Meet Bryan Anthony

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Anthony.

Bryan Anthony

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been an entrepreneurial artist all my life. Forming and playing in various musical projects since age 14 definitely gave me the grit I needed to become.
In these bands ranging from hardcore punk to rock/soul/reggae/hiphop, I honed my abilities as a songwriter, musician and entertainer. First, with bar and club gigs in good ol’ San Anto and eventually, with regional and national performances and tours. I went on a solo acoustic run for several years which took me around the nation once again, with multiple year residencies in Baton Rouge LA, Hampton Roads VA, Portland OR and eventually back to SA. In 2021 I connected with some tenacious people in the blossoming cruise ship entertainment industry and have now completed four successful contracts and am currently nearing the end of my fifth.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up in an underprivileged area, you don’t get a lot of support for dreams of being a musician. Finding the the courage to press on with what you believe can seem overwhelming at times. In DIY bands there are a thousand things that can go wrong on the road. One particularly tricky incident was a time when my band’s van broke down on tour, smack in the middle of nowhere Death Valley, California at the height of summer. We got a *very* expensive tow into Bakersfield where our next show was scheduled and since all the mechanics were closed and we had nothing better to do, we played the gig.
As it happened, one of the audience members owned a local garage and towed us to his shop and set us up for the night. Even fixed our van for free the next day!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a multi-instrumentalist with focus on voice and guitar.

I feel most at home in songwriting and composition and I love to burn down a stage! I specialize in creating magical musical moments.

Among my colleagues I am known for my tenacity, my often goofy nature, my natural ability to lead and strong work ethic.

I am most proud of the love I have developed for myself and within myself.
It has given me the freedom to write boldly.
To compose and perform in ways that ring true to my heart.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Invest heavily in getting to know yourself. Be specific about the opportunities you wish to see come your way. Stay ready and open to take them, there are many ways to reach your goal.
