Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley & Nicholas Rubio
Hi Ashley & Nicholas , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Nick and I have always been coffee lovers, we would regularly go on coffee dates and loved trying new coffee shops and trailers. And one day we were sitting in a coffee shop discussing how each one looked very similar to each other and how we would make our shop, if we ever had one, different and what we would make and serve. And we laughed about it for a while and then we were like well….wait! Why can’t we do that?
So we started doing research and found there wasn’t a shop like ours in our city and it just blossomed from there!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been anything but a smooth road for us, we still constantly hit struggles
We both still work full time and have a daughter who is three so we work on our business in between.
We’ve learned that nothing happens the way you think or even plan for, and were not able to get a loan, or funding, so we are funding this ourselves, and that is a huge struggle for us, in forms of delaying our openings, supplies, equipment, and doing events.

Fandom Fuel Coffee is a nerdy coffee shop based on your favorite fandom/pop culture. We wanted to have a fun coffee shop where you can enjoy a drink and possibly talk comics, DnD, or books, and also to have a space where everyone feels welcome and has a place to express their nerdy side.
It’s comic style, fun drink names, colorful, and we specialize in artisan coffee. We do mainly iced coffees and refreshers.
We are most proud of our menu, we put lots of time and creativity into each drink and I feel like it reflects our love for coffee, our customers, and our favorite fandoms/pop cultures.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
What people don’t know is Nick and I just bought a trailer and are fixing it up ourselves and are hoping to open it up soon, and the trailer is going to be a replica of our small coffee cart we had when we first started…just on a larger scale and hoping it will allow us to be open more days out of the week.
