Meet Anakaren Molina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anakaren Molina.

Hi Anakaren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I’m Anakaren, originally from South Texas, living in San Antonio since 2014. My husband Jacob & I have four sweet girls & we LOVE the San Antonio Spurs & the city! Our girls keep us busy, from jumping around at home to dancing at ballet recitals & competing at cheer competitions! They make life that much more fun & memorable! I can honestly say my boutique was Godsend! I was on Facebook & managed to come across the business page (which was then owned by a high school classmate) I was intrigued with the Pics of merchandise & the first post I read was the logo & current inventory was being sold. Within minutes I called my husband & next thing I knew we were traveling South, to sign over the business name, & pick up some inventory they had!

I took over at the end of January. This was something new & exciting.. yet a long-awaited dream. When I was younger I used to say “one day I want to be like SELENA..& own my very own boutique! Where people will come, shop, chit chat.. have fun & leave wearing items I picked out…”

I like to say we hit the ground running, all in. It’s a family business from traveling and setting up at pop up markets around the city, & little towns nearby. To dressing up myself & my daughters for pictures to use online. Everyday we learn something new, whether it’s from learning the business aspect, & running an online site, to the inventory and sorting, marketing & shipping, but it’s been fun. I’d say my long term goal is to one day have our mobile boutique with a food truck. You know so you could come & shop while you wait for your food!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This road is definitely a curvy & bumpy one but worth the ride. Learning along the way from trial and error really does teach you. You remember what works & are reminded of what doesn’t! It’s a part of the growing process, and everyday is a learning experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of South Texas Style, Co. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Hmm…well, it’s an online boutique for both women & girls. Where you can shop for: clothes/shoes/jewelry & accessories/handbags. For now, my family & I set up at pop up markets around the city & nearby towns. During summer I’ll be attending markets in South Texas too! The goal is to eventually launch a MOBILE boutique, so I can literally load up and drive! What sets us apart would have to be making this journey about family, getting to know the city & making new friends while doing so. I’m not going to lie, in the last couple of months, I have stepped out of my comfort zone! Sending women pictures and videos of merchandise, letting them know how the material feels, I’d it’s true to size…& being honest because everyone’s body type is so different. I’m most proud that we have been able to include our girls in the business. From separating merchandise, sorting by sizes, letting them pick the outfits they want to wear, but reminding them that they are BEAUTIFUL. It’s helped us teach our oldest that someone is always watching & could judge or make remarks that hurt, but reminding her that even though one person may not like something it doesn’t mean no one else will. With the boutique I’m able to get my middle schooler to step out of her comfort zone, to laugh, & see the different visitors we get at all the markets! She’s been able to grasp that not every item is going to be a big hit, but at another time or place it can be! So I want every person that visits our site, social media or stops by our pop up market to remember: be like a SUNFLOWER, so that even on your darkest days, you can stand tall and find the sunlight”

How do you think about happiness?
God, for all that he has blessed me with, for the lessons along the way and the presents we receive daily! Family, because nothing is sweeter than making memories with them!

Laughing, because when you laugh so hard it hurts, you’ll always remember that memory!
