Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the beauty industry began before I even knew it was a passion, when I would help wash and style my grandmothers hair. This laid the groundwork for my future in fashion and styling which led me to aveda institute where I was drawn to the schools beautiful concept and decided to pursue full-time cosmetology while working at ulta developing my makeup skills with a career that has spanned sine 2009 driven by my unwavering passion for the art of transformation through hair, fashion and styling. I love bringing out the best in my clients who am so pround to also call my friends. I also continue with trends and color classes from local to traveling to LA for the best education. I have also traveled and have been able to do hair in Austin , San Antonio Tx and in San Diego CA for 4 years. moved back to home town san Antonio on 2016 and have built a thriving business with amazing clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
for the most part smooth I have felt connecting with people and clients comes quite natural for me however starting out in the business can be intimidating. I spent a-lot of time in the salon taking any clients I could, staying late coming in early or my days of to really hustle to be able to build the clientele I have now. also moving cities can always be a set back. however i still have clients from san Diego and Austin I see regularly.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a cosmetologist that specializes in custom color and lived in color, blondes, Extentions, tailored cuts.
I am most proud of my ability to help talk someone through what they want and how to make sure we are both on the same page. I love helping my clients through their hair color journey while keeping their hair healthy. I find that my knowledge of color theory and 16 years in the industry set me apart from others and that I like to do everything from mens cuts and custom colors to my personal fav bloninding and also wedding hair styling.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see the industry in five years growing significant focus on personalized customer experiences, increased emphasis on sustainability and natural products along with natural looks ,and less time in the chair and more of a affordable quarterly visits also a rise in specialized services that caters to diverse needs,
