Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Elsayed.
Hi Alyssa, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Growing up, my mom was always ‘ready’–makeup on, put together outfits, and the perfect accessories to complete the look. I guess I learned from her and her love for jewelry that accessories give you a chance to be unique.
I have held on to this idea as I’ve become an adult and finally, after lots of hesitation, put my love for jewelry, especially earrings, into my business Lilly and Navy. Owning my own business has been on my mind for a while. I would talk to my husband about it a lot but we never could really pinpoint what it should be.
As statement jewelry has really made a play lately, I thought giving women a carefully curated collection of pieces would help them not only showcase their unique style but also feel beautiful. This is how Lilly and Navy were born.
The name Lilly and Navy came from my desire to include my daughter’s name, Lilly. I want her to see me as someone who takes the chance and puts the work in. This side business may be little now but I pray Lilly, and my sons, see my determination and perseverance through it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a busy mom of 8 years old and 6 years old twins and a full-time teacher, the time has been the biggest challenge.
It takes an investment of time to run the website, choose the pieces and get my brand out there. It’s not impossible but in the beginning stages, you have to put the time in.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I received my bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Tech.
I’m entering my 12th year of teaching and, although every year is a challenge, especially lately, it is where my heart is. I am most proud of the kiddos I have inspired both in and out of the classroom.
I am a hard worker and truly willing to do whatever it takes to reach the end goal of helping my students grow.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my faith, family, and integrity.
My faith is my foundation and my family is everything to me. I hope through my words and actions people see me as someone who is kind, loyal, and others oriented.
