Meet Adriana Sanchez of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Sanchez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
“Owning a business was always something I envisioned for myself. I grew up watching my parents run their own business, so entrepreneurship was instilled in me early on. Professionally, I’ve spent nearly 20 years in franchise marketing, learning how to build brands, create customer experiences, and grow businesses.

At the same time, I’ve always had a deep love for animals — especially dogs. I’ve fostered pups over the years and have always believed in supporting rescue efforts and advocating for animals in need. So when the opportunity came to purchase a local grooming salon from an owner retiring, it felt like the perfect merger of two passions: building businesses and caring for animals.

While I’m not a professional groomer myself, I saw an opportunity to apply everything I’d learned in marketing, customer experience, and business strategy to create something more elevated and intentional. I invested what I had saved, took a leap of faith, and stepped into business ownership while continuing to work full time in my marketing career.

Over the last three years, I’ve transformed the salon inside and out — rebuilding the business model, enhancing the customer experience, strengthening community relationships, and creating a space that truly prioritizes both pups and their parents. Along the way, there have been challenges, including corporate layoffs, economic shifts, and the realities that come with owning a small business. Through the highs and lows, my faith has been a constant, and I truly believe God has carried us through seasons of uncertainty and growth.

One thing I’m especially proud of is the heart behind our business. We’ve been able to give back to rescue organizations, support our local pet community, and work hard to accommodate pups with unique needs or circumstances whenever possible. We understand that every pup is different, and we strive to create an experience centered around compassion, patience, and trust.

The most rewarding part has been seeing how combining my passion for business growth with my love for animals has created something meaningful — a trusted place where pets are cared for like family and owners feel genuinely supported. Building and growing the salon while balancing a full-time career has been challenging, but incredibly fulfilling, and I’m proud of what we’ve created.”

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“It definitely has not been a smooth road. Like many entrepreneurs, starting the business required a significant leap of faith — I invested the savings I had built over time because I believed in the vision and potential of the salon. Along the journey, I also experienced a corporate layoff while balancing business ownership, which created a lot of uncertainty and difficult moments both personally and professionally.

There were times when navigating economic shifts, rising costs, and the realities of owning a small business felt overwhelming. Through every high and low, my faith has been an anchor, and I truly believe God has carried us through seasons where things felt uncertain.

Building the right team has also been one of the biggest challenges. In a service-based industry, finding people who align with your values, level of care, and long-term vision takes time. There were moments of rebuilding, learning hard lessons, and refining our culture. Thankfully, today we have a much stronger team in place that genuinely cares about our pups, our clients, and the experience we create.

Looking back, those challenges taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of staying adaptable. Now, our focus is on continuing to grow intentionally, strengthening our community impact, and building a business that can thrive despite an ever-changing economy.

I think the biggest lesson has been understanding that growth isn’t always linear — sometimes the hardest seasons are what shape you into a stronger business owner.”

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
“Professionally, I’ve spent nearly 20 years in marketing, with much of my career focused on growing multi-unit and franchise businesses. My specialty is taking a brand’s vision, values, and messaging and bringing them to life at the local level in ways that feel authentic and meaningful to the communities they serve. I believe successful brands aren’t built solely through advertising — they’re built through trust, relationships, and creating experiences people genuinely connect with.

One of my strengths is understanding local nuances and recognizing that every market and community is different. I’m passionate about finding ways to build community around a brand because, at its core, I believe community is the foundation of sustainable business growth. I’ve learned that marketing isn’t just about selling a product or service — it’s about understanding people.

What sets me apart is that I’ve been able to blend corporate marketing experience with hands-on entrepreneurship. I’m not only creating strategies — I’m applying them in real time as a business owner, navigating challenges, evolving customer experiences, and building something tangible from the ground up.

What I’m most proud of goes beyond career accomplishments. I grew up watching my parents work incredibly hard as business owners, and those experiences shaped how I view resilience, sacrifice, and entrepreneurship. I’m grateful to have taken those lessons, combined them with the gifts God has given me, and built something meaningful through both my corporate career and business ownership.

I’m also incredibly proud that this journey has allowed me to give back to animals — especially because they ask for so little beyond love, care, and safety. Through our salon, supporting rescues, fostering, and accommodating pups with unique needs whenever possible, we’ve been able to create an impact beyond grooming services alone. That means a lot to me because it reflects who I am at my core.

Ultimately, I’m proud that whether in my corporate career or my own business, my focus has remained the same: helping brands and businesses grow by putting people, community, compassion, and authentic experiences first.”

Any big plans?
“Looking ahead, one of my biggest priorities is continuing to grow the business in a way that is not only sustainable, but truly thriving long term. I’m always thinking about how we can evolve, better serve our community, strengthen our team, and continue creating an elevated experience for both pups and their parents. Growth is important to me, but intentional growth matters even more. I want to build something resilient that can continue making an impact for years to come.

Beyond the salon, I’m also excited to continue growing in my corporate marketing career. After nearly 20 years in the industry, I still enjoy learning, taking on new challenges, and finding ways to connect brands with communities in meaningful ways.

One thing I’m especially passionate about for the future is mentorship. I’ve learned so much throughout my career — from watching my parents work hard as entrepreneurs, to navigating corporate leadership, to building and transforming a business of my own. I would love more opportunities to mentor and help grow the next generation of marketers who are eager to learn, develop, and make an impact. I believe sharing knowledge and investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute to the future of any industry.

Ultimately, my goal is to continue building — building businesses, building people, building stronger communities, and hopefully creating a legacy rooted in hard work, faith, compassion, and service.”
