Life & Work with Travis Buffkin of San Antonio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Buffkin.

Hi Travis, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was born and have been living since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No one’s road is smooth, regardless of how they travel.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Sometimes, as D.T. Buffkin, I sit down with a guitar and play other people’s music: Leonard Cohen, JJ Cale, Leon Russell, Willie Nelson. Sometimes I sit at the guitar or the piano and play my own music. Other times I play loud rock n roll as Pinky Ring. And still at other times I play classic country covers in a band called The Texases. All the music I play and have played revolves around loss, heartbreak, fortune, empathy, despair, pain, pleasure, the man, sex–all the tragic gifts of life. What sets me apart from others brings me closer to them.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My ability to accept what I have AS success.
