Hi Tabitha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

I am a born and raised Texan from San Antonio. I am an abstract artist that enjoys the fine arts and pleasures of life. I try my hardest to be an activist for women and I currently go to school for psychology. Since a young child, I always enjoyed as the fine arts in some form. From dancing to music videos to drawing random doodles on things. My life growing up wasn’t conventional. My father passed when I was 8 due to cancer and my older sister raised me. Growing up without parents and being mixed was extremely difficult on my identity and confidence. However, music, art, poetry, fashion studying, and dance truly saved me when I felt like the world suffocating me. I always knew I was meant to do something creative and I told myself to be the jack of all trades. When life hands you lemons, you’re suppose to make lemon meringue pie, lemonade, ceviche…you get the gist. I always tell people to learn and do as many things you can.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My life wasn’t cookie cutter. As I said prior, I did lose my father at an early age along side my Mom’s ability to be a stable mother figure in my life. These type of things can really effect your internal compass and your over all personal morale. My life and identity were difficult to navigate from middle school to about 24 (I’m 29). My twenties really were my moments of failure and finding the desire to live. I would ping pong with the idea of life and death a lot. I am thankful I chose against the latter.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
So, I do throw myself into many types of avenues when it comes to art. However, I was known for my poetry and my trippy abstract paintings. I love music and writing/singing music. As of right now, I’ve been focusing on dance more. I hula hoop dance on my free time and it’s very relaxing. Dancing is one of those art forms that just allows you to escape reality for a bit and gets your heart racing! Everyone needs to dance more in my opinion.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Yes, in 2022, I was in an abusive relationship and I needed a plan to get out of it. I decided to leave when I saw was fit, I quit my job, and came back to San Antonio to start my art journey. It was either stay at this decent paying 9-5 and risk my own life with this monster or risk going for my art journey and start over. That was the best decision I could’ve made for myself. Risks are everywhere in life and we truly do not know what happens after this life. Just do the scary thing. The worst thing that can happen is you scraping your knee. Get back up and try again.
