Today we’d like to introduce you to Shannon Collier.
Hi Shannon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I applied for a job on Monster.com, and the lady who interviewed me ended up being my boss. She said she hired me because I wouldn’t shut up. I had no idea what an LTV (loan to value) was or how to even do a mortgage. That was almost 20 years ago, and I haven’t turned back. Building a network of business associates, clients and friends helped me land at my current company Gold Financial. I feel like I am working with family.
In my spare time, I also sell Rodan and Fields, this is a new adventure for me. I absolutely love the products and want to share them with everyone. When I am not focusing on work, I am spending time with Family, after all, they are my why! I have a wonderful husband of 23 years and we have two beautiful daughters and one granddaughter.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been hard times and good times. In December of 2007, I was laid off due to the market shift. I was devastated that had never happened to me. Then in September of 2008, I was laid off again. This time I just laughed and quickly found another job.
Here we are many years later and we are facing another challenge in the current market, all I can think about is to keep moving. This too shall pass. I am excited to see where 2023 takes us. No matter what is happening in this world, someone is always buying, and someone is always selling. I hope to be their preferred lender.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Over the years I have specialized in investment properties. I love seeing someone build their portfolio. Currently, I have tuned into manufactured homes, this seems to be a market that few will even touch. Of course, I can’t leave out First Time Home Buyers and Move Up Buyers.
I love to help make homeownership a dream come true. When I am not focusing on business I enjoy giving back. My favorite Charity is Que for the Blue. This is a local non-profit charity that helps First Responders who are injured in the line of duty.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I prefer to network with business-minded people, such as the local Chambers and Businesses owned by women. I love to be around successful individuals; I feel their vibes always rub off on me. It makes you go back to the office and want to achieve their success.
