Hi Nate, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Before opening TruBlue in 2021, I was an Engineering Manager for Cooper Tire. I performed many roles at Cooper and was there for over 22 years. However, over the past few years, I have been searching for a new challenge, wanting to leave the corporate world and find something more meaningful. I stumbled upon the franchise TruBlue and was intrigued. I always had skills in carpentry and home repairs, and their mission to truly improve the lives of seniors stuck with me. After several months of inquiry and praying about it, I decided to plunge into business ownership and bought a TruBlue Franchise here in San Antonio. One in four seniors has a fall every year. Our goal is to help reduce that sobering statistic here in SA! We opened the doors in July 2021 and have been steadily growing month over month. We perform all types of handyman and remodeling work for anyone and everyone. Still, we have a specialty and expertise in helping seniors and people with disabilities with safety projects around the home. This could be simple grab bars, ramps, widening doorways, flooring modifications, or full bath remodels. We are certified aging-in-place specialists (CAPS Certified) passionate about helping seniors and disabled people.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course, it has only sometimes been smooth. The first six months of our journey were the biggest challenge. Trying to establish a presence in the market and keep busy those first few months was certainly a challenge. We had a lot of long days and nights those first few months. But things have gotten much easier once we established, showed excellent work with 5-star reviews, and began having repeat customers and partners throughout the city.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
As a former engineer, I bring a different level of analysis and eye for detail than many others. I can quickly analyze a situation and determine what the issue is. We constantly seek the best solution for our customers, not necessarily the most profitable one. We want to be a long-term partner with our customers, not only giving them the best solution but pointing them to the best business to assist them, whether that may be us or someone else. The biggest thing that separates us from our competitors is our level of accountability. We will do whatever we can to make our customers happy. If that means returning multiple times, that’s what we do.

The biggest thing that matters to us is our reputation. We are not in this for the short term. We intend to grow this business for years to come, thus ensuring our customer satisfaction is our number one goal.
