Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle White
Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a mom to four boys, I am often on the lookout for places to explore and experience together as a family. Recognizing that our city has so much to offer in terms of family activities, I started Texas Mama Musts to share our favorite spots with others.
Seeing that there was a need to showcase other major Texas cities, I recruited additional contributors from Dallas, Houston, and Austin. I was able to learn from an incredible team of women as we tried to figure out successful content creation. However, due to moves and life changes, the team dissolved, leaving me alone to focus on the project.
“Niching down” is a common phrase heard in the marketing and business world. Since I was the only contributor left, I found that this ended up helping me to reach a local target audience here in San Antonio. It resulted in less confusion and more growth.
My objectives with TMM is to help build community, strengthen families, and support local businesses, especially restaurants who put their heart and soul into their work. I LOVE good food! And I love hearing the stories behind the restaurants I work with. I hope to do my part in making sure great restaurants stick around for a long time, as they are such an essential part of our city!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The internet sometimes can feel like the wild west. Anyone can see your work, and anyone can comment on it. Sometimes the internet trolls’ messages can throw one through a loop. It takes work to really see things in context and to develop “thick skin” in order to keep creating and producing content that won’t necessarily be adored by everyone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I like to consider myself as a local guide as well as a business and family cheerleader. Our city has so much to offer in terms of historical, cultural, and culinary experiences. I love to create Reels/content that showcase that in all of its beauty.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Sometimes the Instagram algorithm seems like a game of luck as far as what goes viral and what doesn’t. However, I feel like continuously creating, learning, experimenting, and being in motion allows for luck/success to reveal itself.
