Life & Work with Michaela Azaula of New Braunfels

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michaela Azaula

Hi Michaela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I lived in Orange County, CA I started planning parties and smaller events as a side gig. I had two small children and couldn’t commit to anything more than that. I moved to Austin in 2016 and got engaged, and refused to heir a wedding planner. I was determined to do everything myself but realized very quickly that I had bit off more than I could chew. While planning my wedding, one of best friends took me on a Bachelorette Trip to Vegas, where we attended a Country Music Festival, and a mass shooting occurred. I was shot, and recovery became my number one priority and all things wedding where put on the back burner.
I recovered back in CA for a month, and within that month my story was picked up by planners in Austin that refused to take no for an answer. They rallied and they fought for me, and five months later I was a bride at the wedding of my dreams.
I remember the way they made me feel throughout the remaining of the planning process and how perfect the day of was, and it was that day that I swore I would become a wedding planner to change lives. Fast forward and I now work side by side with one of my best friends, Hailey, who planned my wedding.

Together we have executed too many weddings to count, Nascar, F1, the largest international race in the world, movie premieres and multiple SXSW events.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was hard for me to set boundaries. I found myself making myself available 24/7 which was draining me quickly.
I am now transparent with my clients from the beginning and let them know about my life outside of event planning. THREE kids, I’ve got my hands full and I’m lucky enough to have some of the most amazing clients that support it all.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in design and planning from the very beginning stages of any event. I’ve been known for having an eye for details and finding a reason to celebrate and decorate for literally anything I possibly can.

Most proud of – The relationships I build. I genuinely love getting to know my clients and couples as if they are friends/family and usually the relationship/ communication continues once the event is executed.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Easy! All the little things my mom made big that I now find myself doing for my kids. Every birthday needed an all out theme, every slumber party needed matching shirts and every holiday big and small required decor and celebration.
