Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayra Eads.
Hi Mayra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Where do I start? I can pretty much say that my passion and love for photography started when at around the age of 9 years old. My parents’ home was “the home” for all of my friends, cousins, aunts/uncles and even neighbors. My mom cooked delicious meals while my dad played some cumbias and took out his film camera to take pictures. Costco trips to pick up the prints were a weekly thing and going over hundreds and hundreds of pictures were always so much fun. My parents’ home is full of albums with beautiful memories.
I picked up a video camera first, can you believe it! I thought about doing films. but quickly realized that I actually loved taking pictures just like my dad. Something about finding that right light, capturing that love and getting to know people’s love stories is what makes me soo happy & excited.
I have been a Wedding Photographer going on 3 years & I LOVE IT! Every love story is breathtaking and being able to capture that love story with my camera brings me so much JOY!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I feel that my journey as a wedding photographer has been incredible. When I purchased my first DSLR camera, I didn’t know a thing. I remember feeling so confused because I had no clue how challenging it was to learn the settings, light, posing and even the business side of it!! I remember around that time, a local photographer was going to offer learning your camera basic 101 class. I immediately signed up, because I needed someone to help me figure this out. My amazing friend & mentor Megan Smart with Megan Smart Photography took me in and educated me. I owe so much to her and I’m soo thankful for her. She is a wonderful photographer and I feel so blessed that I was able to learn from her.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Portrait & Wedding Photographer who specializes in Weddings, Proposals & Portraits. I am located in the beautiful Hill Country and have been awarded Kerr County’s Best Photographer two years in a row.
I am very proud of the connections I get to build with my couples, friends and wedding community. I love people, I love seeing people get married, be joyful and learning their love stories. I love helping in any way I can.
How do you define success?
Success to me is when your heart radiates joy. When you achieve your personal goals and something inside gives you joy is how I define success.
