Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Ramos
Hi Mark, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. Growing up, I always had a passion for horror. Halloween has always been my favorite holiday, and I was determined each year to have the scariest costume. My love for horror movies started even before I was born—my mother went into labor while watching A Nightmare on Elm Street. I’ve always felt that was a sign and the source of my deep passion for the genre.
In 2023, I began taking horror content creation seriously. It started with reviewing new releases of various horror films, often based on requests from my followers. They’d ask me to watch these movies and share my (non-spoiler) thoughts, which I was happy to do since it was already a tradition with my husband. We’ve always made it a point to catch every new horror release on Thursday nights.
As my platform grew and I gained support from other horror fans and creators, I began posting daily interactive content. These posts encouraged my followers to share their thoughts and sparked conversations among fellow horror enthusiasts. Throughout this journey, I’ve made it a priority to provide a safe and inclusive space for everyone. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I ensure no one feels left out—we’re all the same weirdos who love horror, no matter our beliefs or backgrounds.
The horror community has brought so much joy into my life, introducing me to incredible people both locally and worldwide. Hearing different perspectives on the genre I love has only deepened my appreciation for it. I’ve also been fortunate enough to collaborate with filmmakers and other content creators, an experience that has been truly rewarding.
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my husband and my mother. They’re always by my side, joining me for every horror movie I watch, even the midnight releases. What began as a hobby has become a true passion, and I’m dedicated to creating fresh, exciting content for my followers.
I’m thrilled to continue building relationships within the horror community and hope to discover even more opportunities to share my love for the genre. This journey has been incredible, and I can’t wait to see where it takes me next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every journey has its challenges, and content creation is no exception. The internet can be an intimidating space, especially when you’re putting yourself out there to share your passion. Not everyone will agree with what you post, and negative feedback can be tough to navigate. Some days, the constant need to stay on top of trends and keep up with what’s popular can feel overwhelming.
There are also times when your creativity feels drained, and no matter how much effort you put in, the content just isn’t coming together. On days like these, it’s important to step back and prioritize yourself. Sometimes, you need to log off, give your mind a break, and recharge.
I never want to lose my passion because of burnout, which is why taking breaks and focusing on my mental health are non-negotiable. I remind myself why I started this journey and hold onto the joy it brings me. This is something I love, and I refuse to let negativity take that away. My passion is what drives me, and it will always be worth the effort.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My primary focus is reviewing newly released horror films, providing non-spoiler reviews to help fellow fans decide whether a film is worth watching. I’m also known for creating interactive content that sparks discussions about the horror genre. Recently, I’ve started sharing horror recommendations with my followers, including collectibles, foreign films, and upcoming releases.
What sets my content apart is my constant effort to elevate it. I’m always brainstorming new ideas to keep things fresh and engaging. One way I give back to my supporters is by hosting giveaways as a token of appreciation for their continued support.
