Life & Work with Jessica Fuentes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Fuentes.

Hi Jessica, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I was born on marine base Camp Pendleton, Oceanside, CA, and moved to San Antonio with my family when I was 2 years old. I was raised in the west side and have lived all over north San Antonio and ended up back close to the west side. As far as I can remember I’ve wanted to run my own business, by my own boss and sell my own products. This year presented an opportunity so I took it and started on my business journey.

I am currently earning my bachelor’s degree in Business Management and working for the criminal justice department. There is so much inspiration around me for creating designs or remixing and it is something I truly enjoy doing.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The main obstacle I’ve run into along the way is time and fitting everything into my car. Finding time to create more, complete themed projects, search for markets, and take more pictures. Working a full-time job sometimes takes time away from working on my business. I hope to dedicate more time to my business in a couple of years and that is something I truly look forward to.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have worked for the State of Texas in Community Corrections for 16 years. Working in this field has taught me a lot and I believe in the work we do and the opportunities we provide. I am very glad to be a part of this organization because I have witnessed people change when they are willing to do the work and it is amazing to see someone take pride in their own progress.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I am a true crime junkie! I watch YouTube videos almost every chance I get, from Bailey Sarian, Megan True Crime, Sherrilyn Dale, Bella Fiore, Stephanie Harlowe, Eleanor Neale, and Fabulous. History is also another favorite, I love to know the history behind almost everything buildings, neighborhoods, houses, and anything at all.
