Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Nelson.
Hi Jesse, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My wife and I have been traveling the US and the world for the past 12 years and we try to go to at least one brewery and hit as many foodie spots as we can in every city. So far we’ve been to 24 countries and 9 US states (if you don’t count short-term/driving through).
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not smooth, but we keep chugging along. We left Czechia in 2019 because Covid made for a bit of a scary situation than were deported from Korea for a similar reason (passport renewal offices were shut down).
So we couch surfed with friends in NY and went back to Korea briefly before settling in Texas.
How many people do you know who have been deported TO the US?!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently a biology teacher in Cameron, TX. Taught ESL in Czechia and South Korea which is how we were able to travel so much.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Interestingly enough, yes, but maybe not what you’d think.
I’ve learned that most people and countries are very accommodating to foreigners when they’re on valid tourist or travel visas, but the second you overstay your welcome they make the US’ foreign policies regarding illegals look like child’s play.
