Life & Work with Gladys Seara

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gladys Seara.

Hi Gladys, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Everything started back in 2017 when I was working as a certificated radio host in my home city Caracas, in Venezuela. I’m a journalist from UCAB College and in that time I had my own radio show, I loved radio but one day I discovered Youtube. I started watching several channels from people traveling around the world and I question myself “if they’re doing that why I don’t try if I’m a journalist. This is why I studied for”.

And I opened my own youtube channel. In that time I wasn’t traveling because of the radio show so I started creating content in Caracas. I was showing all the city and a completely new side of the story in the newspapers at that time about Venezuela. I was showing my life in a city with the highest inflation in the world, and in a country called “super dangerous”/ It was a normal life and that caught the attention from a thousands of people.

I started with no professional camera. I just had my cellphone which for that time was an iPhone 6.

Then I started learning about Youtube so I started traveling to get attention from other countries. I traveled and created content in: República Dominicana, Panamá, México, Ecuador, the United States, China and Japan. In this time, two years of hard working, I was able to buy a professional camera that I still use today. 🙂

After my travel to Japan, my dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer and everything changed: I stayed in Venezuela to be with him and with my mom taking care of him. He passed away in December 2021 and those two years with him passing though all of this, completely changed my life.

Right before my dad passed away my best friend told me he was diagnosed with cancer and in early February he asked me to support him during his treatment: he decided to take a medical treatment in Houston and that’s the reason I came to Texas state.

During this time in Texas, I’ve been creating content about all because everything is new to me. I discovered a world full of people from all over the globe. Literally, I’ve meet people from all the continents and that makes me super happy.

I’m, in a time of my life where I have to restart again and that’s what I’m planning. I’ve been focusing in creating content about the cities around Houston like Corpus Christi, Austin and off course San Antonio. I’ve been showing the most touristic places, the traditional food and the society in general because I want to my audience discovered this with me.

In my Youtube, I have already published some videos about San Antonio and Texas traditional food. I already tried Kolaches, BBQ and the chicken fried steak. 🙂

I hope you can join me during this new time of my career and enjoy this new Youtube videos that are already on in my channel!.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I’m such a family person and I had to decided two years ago stop traveling to far countries and stay home and near my dad and mom. Second, Youtube it’s not an easy platform to grow: it takes time to build a community, you must learn to deal with haters and you have to take care of yourself mentally in order to keep the creativity on and focus on creating new and better content.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a journalist and radio host. I’ve been creating content for Youtube but this path also allowed me to created content for others. Now I run my own Youtube channel but I also run Youtube channels for professionals such as plastic surgeons or pharmacies. I mean I create content for personal brands but also for commercial brands.

I also developed a coaching program to encourage and teach people that want to have and run their own Youtube channel, how to do that.

In Venezuela, I have a marketing agency called “Seara Content Lab” to run social media for any brand or teach people to do it by themselves.

This Youtube life has took me to create all of this that now I’m known for.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that social media is a super powerful world to communicate about your brand but especially to teach people about something you already know. It’s a great place to build a community that joins you during any process and be with you during the greatest and the hardest times.

I also lear you can grow a personal brand around your carrier. You don’t have to wait going out of college to get a job in a tradicional office, instead, you can use social media to let the world know you better and create your own job.
