Life & Work with Emily Andreozzi of Black Magick Tattoos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Andreozzi.

Emily Andreozzi

Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
Growing up, I’ve always been into art and even attended college for graphic design. I never thought I would be a tattoo artist, but my husband and our best friend saw something I didn’t, bought me a small kit off Amazon, and let me start practicing on them. There are better methods of beginning to tattoo than this, so I sought out an apprenticeship quickly after. Fast forward to being at a few shops, and 7 years of tattooing later, I decided to follow my long-time dream and officially start my studio. After much thought, I decided on the shop name Black Magick Tattoos and found a place close to home. I’ve never been happier tattooing than in my studio, and I’ve tattooed some of the most exciting clients who have all been a part of my journey. I cannot thank my family and clients enough for their endless support.

We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning to tattoo has its difficulties and is an extensive learning process; I’m still learning new techniques daily from artists I’ve surrounded myself by. I also was in the middle of my career when Covid happened, which put a setback on my career—I kept at it when everything opened back up and started at a new shop where I quickly became manager of the shop. This helped me with learning what to do and not do when it comes to owning my studio. It has been smooth sailing since deciding to open my doors, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the help I’ve received.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My first tattoo was a memorial for my great-grandmother, so I love creating memorial pieces for my clients. Aside from that, I love to tattoo a wide range of styles – watercolor, black/grey, neo-traditional, traditional, fine line, floral, and my favorite recently has been etching. I pride myself in my linework and my perfectionism when it comes to my tattoos.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I have yet to make many decisions considered a considerable risk. I like to think out my plans before acting on them and ensuring that that is the route I want to take in my life. I’m huge on planning!
