Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryan Ehrlich.
Hi Bryan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up working many different jobs both in the office and in the field for our construction company, Central Builders, Inc. This taught me valuable lessons about the entire accounting, administration and construction operations side of the company.
When I graduated High School, I went on to play football (QB) for Newberry College in South Carolina. I ended up graduating early, and graduate transferred to Texas A&M University at Kingsville where I played my final year of eligibility and met my wife!
After Grad School, I played professional football for the San Antonio Talons. Once that was over, I began my career full-time career with Central Builders. I worked as a Project Manager while continuing to learn and evolve the day-to-day processes of our company. During this time I was approached about partnering to start a Sports Agency. This opportunity ended up coming to fruition and we began Priority Athletes. Priority Athletes’ main goal was to represent football athletes completing their collegiate careers with aspirations of playing in the NFL. We were one of the fastest growing NFL agencies in the country in our first 3 years.
My partner and I had an opportunity to merge with another Sports Agency in New York. We decided to pursue the opportunity and we are now Generation Sports Group. We represent over 15 players in the NFL and are representing another 10 athletes that are preparing for the NFL Draft.
Over the past decade, I have helped Central Builders grow 5X the size of when I first came on board. I have been elevated to Executive Vice President where I oversee all areas of the company’s responsibilities. We have helped nurture and promote many of our in-house talents to be able to keep up with our rapid growth over the past decade.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been many people around me that have continually helped me through the highs and lows of business ownership and entrepreneurship. There have been many struggles related to overall business planning, lack of cash flow, business law and sometimes flat our non-performance. I believe that all of the struggles have helped shape me into the executive leader that I am today. It is often that I find many of my most valuable lessons in both life and business based on continual struggles throughout my career.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Central Builders, we are a commercial general contractor. We employ +/- 90 team members and I am completely responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company. We specialize in Grocery Store Renovations, Ground Up Retail Centers, Ground Up Grocery Stores/ C-Stores/ etc.
At Generation Sports Group I am a partner and an NFLPA Certified Contract Adviser (NFL Agent). I am in charge of representing our athletes in all on-field contractual endeavors and all off-field marketing engagements. I am a complete liaison between client (athlete) and both the NFL teams and the 3rd Party Companies that are pursuing them for marketing opportunities.
I think what sets me apart if the fact that I am very forthright, but also very understanding. I set the expectation bar as high as possible and I try to give everyone around me the playbook to achieve those results. My leadership style empowers those around me. Even when the level of success that we expect is not met, I still view my role as a Coach and not as a School Principal. This has helped stimulate rapid growth in all aspects of the businesses that I am associated with.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think having the ability to listen and understand people’s problems and issues is what is most important to them. This is incredibly important for both upstream and downstream relationships with clients, customers, vendors and employees all the same. If you are unwilling to adapt to the need of others, then you will cause many rifts along the journey.
Another key quality to success is the ability to multi-task at a very high level. If you are going to operate at a high level, note-taking and having laser focus is an absolute must. Everyone in the organization and all customers must feel that their needs matter to you. It has always been my goal to make sure that that is how they feel.
