Today we’d like to introduce you to Branka Bueker.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I married James in Belgrade, Serbia, almost 7 years ago. I quit my job of 36 years as a laboratory scientist. We came to San Antonio two years later; we enjoy going to garage and estate sales. One of the companies asked me if I would like to work with them. I said yes. That’s how I got started. James asked if I would like to have my own company. Never owned a business, I thought, why not. OvaArt is a registered dot.com name that rose from my painted eggs. In Serbia, I was regularly featured in publications for my art. Ova is Latin for egg; thus, the name. If we’re not making estate sales, you will likely find me at area art shows. People say my art makes them happy.
The estate sale business is booming. The largest antique dealer in San Antonio now recommends us. Honesty, integrity, and hard work go a long way in America. We are known for attention to detail, staging of items, and having a good group of employees. Taking care of the client’s needs is our top priority. We don’t have a retail shop. We try our best to take care of our customers. People are impressed by the hard work and effort they see us put in on the job. We’re still the biggest estate sale company in San Antonio, but getting there. I realize now that we’re not just selling people’s stuff; in most cases: we’re changing their lives. That’s where the joy comes in. Our website is OvaArtestate sales. Check it out for more information, or call me at 210-818-0025
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles involved determining who would be a good client. We’re interviewing them as much as they are interviewing us. It takes cooperation and trust to get the job done. That’s a two-way street.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
This is another area that I am expanding into. I studied interior design while living in Japan for five years. My work as an artist is reflected in how the estate sale is staged and items are presented; recently, I’ve had multiple clients ask me to do interior design of their homes. It’s an exciting opportunity to transform the client’s home for sale.
Who else deserves credit for your story?
Yes, I am still great friends with the owner of the first company I worked for. Also, my husband James created the business for me, works with me on every sale, conducts all marketing, and is always there to help with everything. He made the company name, designed the website, and is invaluable. We also have a great sales team, including an internet marketing wiz.
