Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis Moran
Hi Alexis, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born and raised in San Antonio, where my mom introduced me to dance at the age of 2. It quickly became my passion and a defining part of my life. My home studio growing up was Studio 10 Dance, where I trained extensively in ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, modern, contemporary, and pointe. I was a competition and convention kid, spending much of my time learning, competing, and performing.
I later transitioned from studio dance to high school dance team and later to a college dance team. Today, I continue to pursue my passion, living in Denver, Colorado, where I’m a proud Colorado Spartans Dancer and a Jazz Funk instructor.
At the same time, I’ve always felt at home on stage and in front of the camera. Growing up, I had an acting agent and filmed commercials, which helped me embrace my extroverted nature. That love for connection and communication led me to pursue a career where I could engage with others. I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Mass Communications and now work as a Corporate Communications Manager by day.
By night, I’m still a dancer and performer, blending my creative and professional worlds. It’s the perfect balance of my passions: a corporate girl by day, dancer by night!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not!
There have been many challenges along the way. Growing up, I struggled with fitting in, especially in high school, where I was very much bullied. That experience planted seeds of self-doubt that I had to work hard to overcome.
The dance world itself has also been a source of struggle. It’s constantly evolving and becoming more competitive, which can be both inspiring and intimidating. There have been moments when I felt like I wasn’t good enough, dealing with self-doubt, perfectionism, and the inevitable comparisons with others. Learning to find joy in my own growth and embrace my unique strengths has been an ongoing journey.
Balancing my dual passions has been another challenge. Pursuing dance while building a professional career in communications often stretches my time and energy thin. Splitting focus between work responsibilities, dance rehearsals, teaching, and performing has at times led to burnout that I’m still learning to manage.
Relocating to Denver also brought its own set of obstacles. Starting fresh in a new city meant finding my place both in the dance community and in my corporate career. It wasn’t always comfortable at the beginning, but almost three years later, I can say it taught me resilience and the importance of building authentic connections.
Lastly, as an extroverted person who thrives on being “on” for work, dance, and social interactions, I’ve sometimes struggled to find balance. Overextending myself has taught me the importance of setting boundaries and making space for rest and reflection.
While it hasn’t been a smooth road, these struggles have shaped me into who I am today and deepened my passion for both dance and communication.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
With both a master’s and bachelor’s degree in communications, I bring extensive experience in Public Relations, Marketing, Sales, and Corporate Communications. Currently, I serve as a Corporate Communications Manager, specializing in managing and enhancing my company’s reputation while ensuring consistent, impactful messaging across all communication channels to achieve organizational goals.
One of my key responsibilities is acting as a bridge between departments—whether it’s Technology, Marketing, Learning & Development, or Operations—and transforming their updates into clear, concise messages that inform and engage the organization. I thrive on taking complex ideas and crafting messages that resonate with employees and stakeholders.
What sets me apart is my unique combination of skills: I’m not just behind the scenes as a strategist and communicator—I’m also front and center. Every year, I emcee my company’s annual conference, acting as the “face” of the organization. This role allows me to use my stage presence and natural charisma to connect with an audience, making every message feel personal and inspiring.
I’m known for my ability to build trust and confidence. I excel at delivering messages in a way that people trust and connect with. Whether I’m presenting on stage, speaking to a group, or creating internal communications, I focus on making sure the message is clear, effective, and meaningful.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve earned from colleagues and leadership. When someone says, “We need you to deliver this,” they know I’ll convey it with clarity, confidence, and a personal touch that inspires action. That combination of strategic thinking, trust-building, and stage presence is what truly sets me apart in my role.
Any big plans?
While I’m fully committed to being a “corporate girly” by day, I’m equally passionate about continuing my journey as a dancer. One of my dreams is to dance commercially and even become a tour dancer for icons like Janet Jackson or JLo. Performing is such a core part of who I am, and I know I’m not done being on stage.
Looking ahead, I hope to one day make California my home, where I can pursue both my corporate ambitions and my creative dreams. I’m still exploring whether my long-term goal is to become a VP of Communications for a major organization or to open my own adult dance studio—but either way, I’m committed to growth and seeking out bigger and better opportunities.
The road ahead is exciting, and I’m looking forward to embracing whatever challenges and adventures come my way!
