Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Hunt.
Taylor, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Taylor Hunt a.k.a. Rebel Beatz and I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. My earliest influences include Johnny Cash, Master P, Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffett, Tech N9ne, and many others. Initially, I started making music in high school, and while I was stationed in Germany during my time in the Army that is when I learned how to produce music through a great friend of mine. When I came home from the military, I moved back to New Orleans and started working with local artists and previous artists that I’ve worked with since the military.
In 2019, I relocated to San Antonio and continued to work with artists, and in the Summer of 2020, a couple of close friends from the military started NYA Music Group, an independent record label with a goal to make it big in the music business. That October, I released my debut EP with rapper K Samson called “Street Dreams”. Today, the label is still going strong and is still veteran-owned as I am preparing to release my next project with K Samson called “Street Dreams II”.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road. Since I began my journey in music, I’ve dealt with numerous setbacks ranging from musical blocks, doubt, personal issues, and faulty record deals. Altogether it has been a few times I contemplated stopping with music as a whole But there were numerous things that helped keep my inspiration in music going strong.
As you know, we’re big fans of the NYA Music Group. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
NYA Music Group is an independent record label and brand that specializes in music production and live instrumentation. This brand is known primarily for music production. What sets me and my brand from others is the fact that there aren’t any record labels that are veteran owned and also I have my very own distinctive sound.
What I am most proud of brand-wise is the fact that this brand continues to flourish despite the setbacks and the fact that this brand is branching out into new ventures. NYA Music Group offers high-quality music production for any upcoming artists in San Antonio and abroad.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In about 5-10 years, I see my brand venturing into endeavors such as fashion and business endorsements. Also venturing into different genres of music.
