Inspiring Conversations with Reagan Rothe of Black Rose Writing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reagan Rothe.

Reagan Rothe

Hi Reagan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As an author that has published with a few different publishing houses, I took my experiences and weighed what I would do better if I was a book publisher, what I would appreciate more and think authors could benefit most from, and I created Black Rose Writing with that in mind. We started full-time in 2009 and have grown every year since.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think even the most successful of businesses, or entrepreneurs, definitely have their obstacles along the way. I would say it’s been smoother than not for Black Rose Writing, but there were a few challenges we had to be flexible and willing to overcome. The introduction to digital (eBook) formatted books and audiobooks were two changes that we were quick to join.

We’ve been impressed with Black Rose Writing, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Black Rose Writing is an independent publishing house that strongly believes in developing a personal relationship with its authors. The Texas-based publisher doesn’t view authors as clients or simply as another number on a page. Instead, we consider each writer an individual who deserves an honest review of their material and traditional royalties without ever paying publication fees.

Black Rose Writing, established in 2006, features books from an array of fiction, non-fiction, and children’s book genres, all having one thing in common, an individual’s originality and hard work. It can take endless hours to finish a deserving manuscript, and Black Rose Writing applauds every author, giving them a chance at their dream. Because Black Rose Writing takes full advantage of modern printing technology, the company has an infinite print run via print-on-demand services.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I think the most important aspect from Covid that businesses altogether have learned is that some of the older models of business aren’t always the only model. More flexibility for work hours, work locations, all something we’ve always done at Black Rose Writing may create an even more successful environment and motivated staff.
