Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Durham.
Hi Lindsay, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My path into becoming a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist really started with a desire to help others from a young age, though I didn’t always know exactly what that would look like. In college, that became clearer when I began volunteering and interning at The Warm Place in Fort Worth, where I worked with grieving children and families. That experience had a huge impact on me. I saw firsthand how resilient kids and families are when they have the right support. That’s when I knew I wanted to pursue counseling.
I went on to earn my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Mary’s University, which brought me to San Antonio, and I’ve been a licensed marriage and family therapist since 2016. Early in my career, I worked primarily in school settings while also building experience in private practice, focusing on children, adolescents, and families.
Over time, my work began to shift in a more personal way. During COVID-19, I was pregnant with my first child and experienced complications, much of it in isolation. That season gave me a completely new perspective on how vulnerable and unsupported the perinatal period can feel. It ultimately led me to expand my focus and deepen my training in perinatal mental health.
In 2025, I became a certified Perinatal Mental Health therapist (PMH-C). Now my work includes supporting individuals and families through pregnancy and postpartum, alongside the child, adolescent, and family therapy I’ve always been passionate about. My journey has really been shaped by both my professional experiences and my personal ones, and both continue to inform how I show up for the clients I work with.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, although I feel very grateful to have had a strong support system around me every step of the way. One of the biggest challenges was making the transition to full-time private practice during COVID-19. It was a time when everything felt uncertain, both personally and professionally, and I was learning how to navigate my career in a completely new way while the world was constantly shifting.
Around that same time, I made the decision to accept insurance so I could be accessible to more individuals and families. That was and is really important to me, but the process itself was complex and, at times, frustrating. There were definitely moments where it felt overwhelming, but I stayed committed to the bigger picture of making care more accessible.
Owning my own business while also prioritizing my family has been another ongoing challenge, and something I’m continually learning to navigate.
Through all of this, what has really grounded me is my mission: to create a space where individuals and families feel supported, understood, and able to access care during some of the most vulnerable seasons of their lives, especially during pregnancy, postpartum, and throughout childhood and family transitions. That mission has helped me stay focused and keep moving forward, even when things felt difficult.
Looking back, those challenges have shaped how I show up today. They’ve made me more adaptable, intentional, and deeply connected to the work I do.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with an office in the Stone Oak area of San Antonio, Texas. I offer in-person therapy sessions at my office location, as well as virtual sessions throughout the state of Texas.
My therapy practice is centered around supporting individuals and families through some of the most meaningful, and often vulnerable, seasons of life. I work with children, adolescents, and families, while also specializing in perinatal mental health, supporting individuals through pregnancy and the postpartum period.
Because of my background as a marriage and family therapist, I naturally view clients within the context of their relationships and environments. That means whether I’m working with a child, a parent, or an individual in the perinatal stage, I’m always considering the bigger picture and how to best support the system as a whole.
What sets my work apart is the combination of both professional training and lived experience. My own journey through pregnancy and postpartum deepened my understanding of how complex and, at times, isolating that season can feel. That perspective allows me to meet clients with a level of empathy, attunement, and authenticity that is really important to me.
I’m also very intentional about creating a space that feels warm, collaborative, and approachable. Therapy can feel intimidating, and I want the people I work with to feel genuinely seen, supported, and understood from the moment they walk in.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is building a practice that prioritizes both quality care and accessibility. Accepting insurance was an important decision for me because I want more families and individuals to be able to receive support when they need it. I’m also continuing to expand my offerings through resources and, in the future, group work, especially within the perinatal mental health space, to reach and support more people.
Ultimately, what I want people to know is that my practice is a place where you can slow down, feel supported, and not have to navigate challenges alone. Whether you’re a child, a parent, or an individual adjusting to the changes that come with pregnancy, postpartum, or family life.
What’s next?
I’m really excited about what’s ahead. At my core, I plan to continue growing my private practice and serving individuals and families in a meaningful, connected way.
Beyond that, I’m working toward expanding my impact, especially within the perinatal mental health space. In my free time, I’ve been developing resources for pregnant and postpartum individuals, with the goal of supporting that population on a larger scale and increasing access to care and education.
I’m also looking forward to creating group offerings centered around perinatal mental health. I think there’s something really powerful about connection and shared experience during that season of life, and I’m excited to build spaces where that can happen.
Another area I’m passionate about is collaborating with and creating resources for medical professionals to help increase awareness of the mental health component during pregnancy and postpartum. There’s such an opportunity for more integration and connection there.
I feel really grateful to do this work and to have a career where I can support others in such meaningful seasons of life. I’m looking forward to continuing to grow in that capacity and serve the individuals and families I work with in the best way I can.
