Today we’d like to introduce you to Julio.
Hi Julio, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am Julio Kanagusico, a Latino business owner in San Antoni0, Texas.
I started working at Pizza place for over two and a half years while trying to create a business. In 2019 I tried photography, I bought my own camera and started to working for free for local artist, I quickly notice that photography wasn’t for me, even though I like it, I don’t have the eye for it. In the end of 2019 – 2020 my cousin and I started a business where we would sell candy to restaurants. It didn’t work out because of the pandemic, but that’s where I discover that I was good at selling. Then mid of 2021- 2022 I started my own clothing brand (Which I might try again in the future) I bough everything, programs to design logos, heat press, but i had to shut it down because i had problems with my supplier. After this failure I started to lose motivation, I felt that I was just not made for business, because every time that I tried something it just not wouldn’t work.
Couple of months after my dad invited me and my cousin to join construction, and I had no motivation at all, I remember I worked from 7-3 feeling like my life was meant to be a routine.
I started to accept what I was made of and I decided to take OSHA courses because there was so many non English speakers at my jobsite that I thought it would be good to help them work safe and help them understand what the safety meetings were all about, that’s where I started to know company owners and super intendents and felt more pressure because all of my family members were either teachers, engineers or doctors, From 2022 to early 2025 I was working on the field, because companies didn’t wanted to give me the opportunity to work as their safety in between that period I reconnected with my friends from Mexico, amazing friends, very smart people, We are a group of 5 which 3 of them are engineers and one of them is getting his PHD at the University of Berkley, somehow seeing that gave me motivation to start my own business, besides I didn’t like seeing my dad working, waking up early and getting home tired neither my mom, waking up early, around 5;20 pm to make lunch. I felt so motivated to change my future. That’s how me and my dad gave life to KC Global Connection LLC, a company that dedicates to commercial Drywall and metal stud framing.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s definitely been a mix of both — smooth at times, but also full of challenges. That’s the reality of building something from the ground up. In real business, you have to constantly solve problems and adapt. If you’re not dealing with stress or obstacles, you’re probably not building anything real — or someone else is solving them for you. That’s why I’ve always preferred to build my own thing, not just plug into someone else’s system. But some of the struggles along the way was when workers didn’t show up, or when they frame a wall where they were not supposed to, and of course that costs time and material.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about KC Global Connection LLC?
KC Global Connection is a construction company that specializes on drywall, metal stud frame, acoustical ceilings installation, hardware and we recently added tape, float and paint to our scope. What sets me apart from others is that in less than a year we are a national company providing work in California, and New Orleans, something that no other company has done ever before, we focus on doing the job the right way and in the less time as possible with the best and affordable prices to our clients.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes, my advise to those that are starting is that nothing is going to happen if you don’t take action, if you want to get somewhere you have to work for that goal, and be prepared for change, a lot of things are not going to come you the way so you have to build character, so take that uncomfortable phone call, have that uncomfortable conversation, that is going to help you build it.
One thing I wish I knew when I was starting out was that there are so many changes, more than what I expected.
