Today we’d like to introduce you to JR Garcia.
Hi JR, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In my younger days I struggled with harsh bullying from peers about my weight and appearance, I hated myself and how I felt about myself. My grandmother was infamous for her tough love speeches and she told me to stop feeling sorry for myself which was a loud wake up call to my 14 year old self, I decided to change what I didn’t like about myself and realized how much I could achieve while focusing in on a task. I got my first job as a Political Data Specialist, a fancy term for call center attendant, in middle school. I worked from 4-11 P.M during the week and developed a strong sense for sales. I had been in the gym for about 2 years and was discovered by modeling agency in New York where I would go on to do commercials, print ads, and runways. I won San Antonio’s Model of the month two times was then turned away because of my height. My sophomore year of High School I noticed I never responded to authoritative figures and could not work for others so I decided to open my own company. I created JR Technology in my own English Class as a free write assignment and synthesized a business plan. I would make 150 calls a day during school selling marketing contracts and website development. It took about 7 months to get the business going and it’s been 2 years now and we have seen tremendous growth. JR Technology employs experts all over the world and works within the Real Estate, Construction, Entertainment, and E-Commerce Industries and helps our clients get their feet off the ground and gain the exposure they need to grow into large scale businesses.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not, balancing football, school, and now a business has brought many challenges including financial struggles, relationships ended, and through the roof stress. It’s difficult when you lose money, it’s even harder when you lose a friend over something as minuscule as money. I have worked for free, I have paid to work with clients. I’ve been threatened, slandered, cheated, and lied to. But with all this happening I know I must be doing something right, I would be worried if it was a smooth road because then I wouldn’t be going anywhere. I would rather put myself through the tribulations now than have to deal with consequences when I am older.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
San Antonio has been my home for more than half of my life and without a doubt the people are my favorite part. The stories the San Antonio people have show the true grit of our people. The history behind our town is overflowing with culture not to mention the food. The food here is unparalleled due to San Antonio’s intense flavor profile where you can taste the time and effort put into to every meal. My least favorite part of the city would have to be the homelessness. I believe it’s our duty to help the less fortunate and It has been a personal goal of mine to build embassies for the homeless to assist shelters with overcrowding. My embassies will help people become rehabilitated and provide job opportunities and training so that they may enter into the workforce. I don’t want to have to worry about the American taxpayer paying for it so it’s for that reason I do what I do. Not for myself but for those who don’t have the opportunities I have.
