Hi Heather, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Established in 1977 by Pat Cantrell & Carol Guedry, there was one goal in mind, serve great food at a great price.
We must be doing something right! Over the last 45 years Pat’s has grown to become a staple in our great little town of New Braunfels. Growing from a one room burger joint, with very few tables, to a full service restaurant with three additions for sitting.

Turning Pat’s from a single room restaurant and taking over the adjoining porch for the Sun Room, a driveway for the New Room, and the billiards bar for the Garden Room.
We have seen the kids that came in with their parents turn into parents themselves and now bring their children in to enjoy the wonderful home atmosphere we have been known for, for the last 45 years.

We have enjoyed our “kids” (both employees & guests) grow up, graduate, get married with families of their own! We take great pride in having our guests’ children & grandchildren dine here at Pat’s! In today’s faced paced world, we strive to maintain the values of our humble beginnings by serving home cooked food in a comfortable environment that will make our guests come and see us time & time again! Home cooked food made with love! Thank you for over 45 yrs!”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Covid hurt tremendously we closed on Sundays and at 3pm every day and some days all together – had to turn our cafe into a togo establishment and then found it hard to get back open – When David & I took over July of 2022 we had to basically start over with just a Name and rep – but open back up, find staff and let people know we were still here. We opened back up 7 days a week, added brunch on Saturdays & Sundays, added full bar and new lunch specials while preserving the original Pat’s
Keeping a 48 yr tradition alive yet still trying to attract new younger customers has been a challenge, the nostalgia and memories are so rich and filled with life that any change greatly effects our customers. With that being said, adding brunch, new specials and our Pat’s Tree Haus deck have been welcomed wonderfully
