Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Morales
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi everyone, my story starts in 2020.
I am a former Teacher, I taught for 15 years. In 2020, I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer and I was no longer able to perform some of my duties as a teacher. I decided to look into a different career, even though I would miss working with students, it seemed like the best choice for me.
I have always been interested in the beauty industry. My love for skin care and nails, brought me to the realization that I needed to get my Specialty License for both Esthetician and Manicurist.
I became a licensed Esthetician and Manicurist in late June 2021. I started my new career working as an Esthetician for six months in a small salon.
In November 2021, I decided I wanted to utilize both my licenses and start my own business. I opened up Double Polished Beauty Bar in December 2021. When I first opened the salon it was in the back of a barbershop, I wanted to try it out and see if the business would be successful. We stayed at the barbershop for about a year and a half. In June 2023, I opened up my very own storefront!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road.
I have had struggles along the way, from fear of failure to building clientele, to building a team of wonderful co-workers. I have definitely learned a lot, it hasn’t been an easy road, but that’s ok. The struggles and obstacles you overcome will definitely be worth the outcome.
As you know, we’re big fans of Double Polished Beauty Bar. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialize in skin care and nails.
We are well known for being personable and the professionalism we show to each of our clients, since it is a small salon, it gives us the flexibility to be a more private salon, in which I feel sets us apart from other salons.
We are by appointments only, so we can ensure the best quality work each time! I am very proud of being a salon that not only sets quality as a high standard but we also meet our clients expectations! We also strive to stay affordable for our clients!
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a social butterfly, I made friends easily and loved talking all the time on the phone. I loved anything that had to do with the beauty industry.
