Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Johnson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The birth of my business started when I was lifting myself out of a dark place mentally, spiritually, and physically. At the start of 2018, I found myself depressed. I was post-grad, dealing with the trauma I had endured throughout my education journey, recently diagnosed with BP, and feeling directionless overall. It was safe to say that I had been dealing with my emotions and stress unhealthy by eating my feelings, numbing myself, and avoiding the issues.
While I was eating a gallon of ice cream, I realized that I could not live like that anymore. I could not take anymore. I started with a 90-yoga challenge, and I adopted healthier practices like meditation; mediation led me to where I am now. By meditating, I began focusing on the emotional energy that I had stored that needed releasing. I found the lifestyle that allowed me to be the healthiest and happiest version of myself. I knew that if I found self-love, peace, and acceptance this way, I wanted to assist others in finding that same peace for themselves.
I started offering cleansing baths and oils at farmer’s markets with the intention for the consumer to slow down and check-in with themself. My business has since blossomed into so much more. I offer services like sound healing, reiki, and readings to adults, children, groups, and as of this year, corporate spaces.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I am a firm believer that every journey has its’ perceived challenges. The challenges that I have faced thus far have been people and their preconceived ideas of what I do. Typically, when you see someone who works in the holistic community, it’s almost as if their creditability is reduced to a strange mystic or a foil hat member, which is the furthest from the truth. What I do is essential to daily living, and many of us have not been taught the importance of taking time out of the day to focus on self and check-in truly. Just as we feed and water our relationships with others, we must give ourselves that same time and attention.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I tell anyone about my business, I always say our focus is on self-love. The goal is to spend mindful time with yourself and check in. Many of my clients tell me how they don’t have time for themselves, and I like to challenge and show people that you can take the time to check-in, whether that be setting aside 30 min. to an hour for sound healing or simply putting down any distraction and doing a 5-minute breathing exercise. My business’s mission statement (phrase) is “Realign, love yourself and heal.” My goal is to help the community heal, discover (or rediscover) a newfound sense of self-love and acceptance. I also want to assist individuals in cultivating a consistent daily wellness practice.
I am known for sound healing, but I offer various services and products—some of the services I offer range from reiki, readings, therapeutic art, and meditation. I even provide a blend of those services, specifically a blend of sound healing, readings, and reiki (Reiki is the use of universal energy to help locate and transmute blockages within your energetic body).
I am most proud of all the philanthropic work we have done with the city throughout the few years I have been in operation. My goal is to help everyone, and I understand that not everyone has excessive funds to afford wellness services, something that I do is offer free community healing services at least once a month. Whether free sound healing, park clean-ups, kid paint sessions, or wellness product drives, I believe that one should always give and build their community up. I am also proud of the certifications that I hold. I am certified in chakra healing, sound healing, reiki master, therapeutic art, life coach, and guided meditation.
What sets me apart from others is the experiences that I have in the community that I am serving. Usually, when you see wellness businesses that cater to a particular crowd, I believe in inclusivity; I want everyone to have a chance to experience an all-encompassing sense of wellness.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My son, living, sunflowers, helping others, bubbles, creating, channeling, and music.
