Today we’d like to introduce you to Drew Henry.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started the Design Dude’s Life blog when I first moved to San Antonio over five years ago. This was a place where I stored design inspiration and shared places I was visiting as I moved into my new apartment and explored the city. I moved to San Antonio for a marketing job, and the popularity of my online blog opened up new work opportunities.
Early in 2020, before the pandemic struck, I decided to quit my job while I was in the process of pursuing new opportunities. Unfortunately, all of those opportunities quickly vanished when the pandemic hit. As I was struggling to figure out what life and work meant at this time, I dove more into my writing.
In mid-2020, I launched my copywriting business, Drew Henry Writes. As organizations pivoted to digital promotion, the company picked up faster than I could have imagined. As a result, I began writing for interior design, architecture, and lifestyle clients across the country.
At the start of 2022, I am launching the newest branch of my business, Eat It Up Marketing. Eat It Up Marketing is a full-service option for my copywriting clients looking for a comprehensive digital content marketing strategy. I am building a team of photographers, content creators, and writers to grow with me on the journey.
I am grateful to my little blog that launched my new career.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was scary launching a new business on my own without any backup plan amid a global pandemic. I wasn’t really sure what any of it was going to look like, but in a way, these conditions pushed me to make it a reality. In many ways, there was no option for failure!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Now, my business is divided into two branches, Drew Henry Writes and Eat It Up Marketing. At Drew Henry Writes, I write short and long-form content, including ads, blogs, and web pages for interior designers, architects, and lifestyle brands.
What sets me apart is my ability to adapt to any brand voice. In some cases, I am ghostwriting in the first person for individuals with widely different backgrounds and experiences from my own. I don’t think everyone can get inside of someone’s head and embody a brand the way I do.
At Eat It Up Marketing, I’ve built a team to deliver full-service digital content marketing to businesses with a passion for what they do. We work with restaurants, designers, national corporations, and even an alpaca farm! We’re known for providing personal service and doing whatever it takes to get a brand’s message out.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters the most is sharing someone else’s story in a way that will capture attention and make a difference. Helping others is at the center of what I do.
