I’ve always been someone who loves solving problems—not just identifying what’s broken, but creating real, lasting solutions that make people’s lives easier. That passion started early in my career, but it was in the U.S. Air Force where I truly learned the power of strategy, efficiency, and leadership in high-stakes environments. Those lessons shaped the way I think, work, and lead today.
When I transitioned into the business world, I saw firsthand how many entrepreneurs and business owners were struggling—not because they lacked vision, but because they lacked the right systems to support their growth. Too often, they were buried in the daily grind, stuck in a cycle of putting out fires instead of building something sustainable. I knew that with the right structure, the right strategy, and the right mindset, these businesses could thrive instead of just survive.

In the early days, I found myself wearing every hat—consultant, strategist, administrator, marketer—you name it. It was rewarding but also exhausting. I quickly realized that if I wanted to help other businesses create scalable solutions, I needed to take my own advice and build a strong foundation for growth. That meant refining processes, setting boundaries, and learning to delegate.
Another major challenge was finding my niche. I wanted to help everyone, and in my heart, I didn’t want to turn people away. But the reality was that not every business could afford my services, and I found myself stuck in a tough predicament—overextending myself and undervaluing my expertise just to accommodate others. It took time to realize that serving everyone meant serving no one effectively. I had to get really clear on who would benefit the most from my services and who I was best equipped to help. That clarity changed everything. It allowed me to create high-value, strategic solutions for businesses that were truly ready to scale, rather than spreading myself too thin.
Looking back, every struggle has been a lesson. The obstacles forced me to be more intentional, more strategic, and more committed to the mission of helping businesses not just operate, but truly thrive. The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Absolutely. The COVID-19 crisis reinforced a lesson that I’ve always believed but saw play out on a much larger scale: businesses that operate with intentionality, agility, and strong systems are the ones that survive and thrive—no matter the circumstances.
One of the biggest takeaways was seeing how businesses that had structured operations, adaptable strategies, and scalable systems were able to pivot quickly when the world changed overnight. On the other hand, businesses that lacked clear processes or relied too heavily on in-person operations struggled to adjust and, in many cases, didn’t recover.
For me, it reaffirmed the importance of helping businesses build resilience. It’s not enough to be passionate about what you do—you have to have a solid foundation, clear processes, and the ability to adapt. That’s why at DMCG, we focus so much on efficiency, scalability, and strategic planning.
