Hidden Gems: Meet Veronica Garcia of Vemi’s Custom Crafts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Veronica Garcia.

Hi Veronica, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started this small business 5 years ago, my son started baseball and I saw moms wearing cute shirts with baseball moms and baseballs on their cups.

They were a bit expensive for me to buy everything that I wanted to I decided to learn and make them. I met a sweet baseball mom that was sweet enough to guide me.

I started off with her old machine, an iron, and some scraped pieces she gave me to work with. I started with the little stuff like decals, and easy one-color t-shirts.

Then I started to make wine glasses with glitter, family vacation shirts, and team shirts. I learned so much and I was able to start making resin cup pens, resin items, and sublimation items. I have helped other baseball moms along the way.

Now, I have a broad list of items that I am able to make, I take any custom order that I am asked to make because I know what customized items mean to someone. A major product that I produce is Memorial products for people that have lost someone special.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth, it takes a lot of money, patience, and time.

My husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer 4 years ago this June. It hit us like a freight train. He has to have a big surgery to remove part of his kidney in 2018.

So that was when I learned how to make a lot of items so I could pick up the part where he was out of work. While he was recovering I was constantly brainstorming and making anything and everything.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Vemi’s Custom Crafts?
Our small family business is named after our family the V is for my name Veronica, the E is for my husband and son named Ernest, the youngest is named Emma, M is for Mia and I is for Isis. We wanted to have a unique name that meant something strong.

We specialize in t-shirts, all sublimation needs, tumblers, pens, resin products, and memorial requests. I am known for making custom memorial items, bleached shirts, and any custom requests. What sets us apart from others is we are very compassionate about requests being that we listen and make sure it’s exactly what they want.

Most of the time the request is about a loved one that has passed or a proud family wanting matching shirts for a sport to cheer on their child. We are most proud of our brand because we use quality materials and time to make sure each item is made satisfactory.

I would like the readers to know we don’t rush on orders and take time to have a quality product delivered.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
A risk we took was to start sublimation, it was an investment in itself. Different printers, ink, paper, and materials to print on.

Glad we did it because it is a huge percentage of our business. I am a risk-taker, always have been, and will be.

I have to at least try it!
