Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara (Sweet T) Rodriguez.
Hi Sweet T, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
“I’ve always been a bit of a professional busybody. My brain doesn’t have an ‘off’ switch; it just has forty different browser tabs open at all times—half are corporate strategy spreadsheets, and the other half are vintage hair tutorial videos.”
My story started in the 90s, cutting my teeth in hospitality management as a trainer for Darden Industries. I eventually leveled up with a BBA and a Master of Science, which landed me in the world of corporate strategy. I spent years climbing that ladder, but even while I was navigating the corporate maze, I was running my own clothing and jewelry company, Closet Couture, on the side. I was a ‘side-hustler’ before there was even a catchy name for it; I’ve just always believed in diversifying your life and your income.
Then came Herman Munster—my 1966 F250. Buying that truck changed everything. I started hitting car shows in Dallas and absolutely fell for the rockabilly and pinup aesthetic. It wasn’t just a costume; it felt like finding the version of myself I was always meant to be. That passion turned into Events by Exquisite Endeavours, where I started organizing car shows and booking live music.
I’d spent some time teaching tennis in New Braunfels at John Newcomb’s Tennis Ranch back in the 90s, and the area never really left my heart. In 2018, I finally stopped dreaming about it and just did it. I moved down here and bought a plot of land on the Guadalupe River in Seguin that became the Atomic Mermaid RV Ranch. It was about creating a perpetual income stream, sure, but it was also about building a home base for the life I wanted to lead.
The move changed my rhythm—literally. I met my partner, Eric (a drummer known as Booker-E on Drums), and together we launched Booker-E Entertainment. In this town, music is the heartbeat, and I found my niche connecting the right sounds to the right stages. But I also wanted to prove that a little glamour can do a lot of good. I helped start the New Braunfels Pinups, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. We’re more than just red lipstick and vintage curls; we’re out there raising money for animal shelters and supporting our veterans. There is honestly nothing more efficient than a group of pinups with a mission.
The biggest plot twist? My current chapter. These days, I’ve traded some of my high heels for hiking boots as an Assistant Manager for Texas Parks and Wildlife at Palmetto State Park. It might seem like a leap from corporate strategist to the great outdoors, but at the end of the day, it’s still high-level management—just with better views and the ‘difficult coworkers’ are usually just over-enthusiastic raccoons.”
And when I’m not helping manage a state park or an RV ranch, I’m usually traveling through time. I’m currently writing The God Note, a sci-fi romance novel that blends my love for 1950s history with time travel. I was first published in the fourth grade at the Young Authors Extravaganza, so in a way, I’m just getting back to my roots.
Whether I’m applying my master’s degree to operations, my heart to the community, or my imagination to a manuscript, the goal is always the same: keep the best parts of Texas alive and never, ever stop evolving.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
“If life is a highway, mine had about fifteen construction detours, a flat tire, and a backseat driver demanding chicken nuggets while I was trying to merge into the executive lane.”
”My daily life was a masterclass in code-switching; I’d go from debating quarterly projections in a suit to debating the nutritional value of a fruit snack in sweatpants. There’s a specific kind of adrenaline you only get when you’re closing a high-stakes deal over the phone while silently gesturing for a child to stop using the cat as a footstool.”
And if I’m being completely transparent—which is dangerous, I know—I think I was actually a better businesswoman than I was a parent. In business, if someone throws a tantrum, you can send them to HR or fire them. At home, you just have to offer them a juice box and hope for the best. My “management style” worked wonders on a spreadsheet, but it turns out you can’t exactly A/B test a bedtime routine.
But looking back, those “sink or swim” years were my personal boot camp. Navigating that chaos as a single mom didn’t just teach me resilience; it turned me into a one-woman conglomerate. I learned that I am my own greatest asset. I don’t just solve problems; I outrun them. It made me realize that I’m unstoppable on my own—partly because of my drive, and partly because I’ve already survived the worst a board of directors and a four-year-old could throw at me. ”I may have been more comfortable in a boardroom than a playroom, but that struggle forged a version of me that doesn’t wait for permission or help—I just get the job done.”
As you know, we’re big fans of “I usually answer that with a follow-up: ‘How much time do you have?’ I’m a bit of a serial entrepreneur. Between owning the Atomic Mermaid RV Ranch, booking for Booker-E Entertainment, and running Events by Exquisite Endeavours, my business card is essentially a small novella.”. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
What Sets the Brand Apart: The “Corporate Quality, Local Soul” Factor
”What really sets the ‘Sweet T’ umbrella apart is that we bring high-level corporate standards to local, creative industries. Whether it’s hospitality, music, or marketing, we operate on a level of professional intensity that you don’t usually find in these niche spaces.”
Atomic Mermaid RV Ranch: “It’s more than just a place to park; it’s a tiny home sanctuary. Being nestled right on the Guadalupe River near Seguin, we focus on providing a boutique, tranquil experience that feels like a hidden gem rather than a standard stopover.”
Booker-E Entertainment: “We’ve flipped the traditional booking model on its head. Most agencies represent talent; we represent venues. We act as a professional filter, ensuring every artist is a triple threat: they sound incredible, they dress the part, and they understand the business of self-promotion. We treat a Saturday night bar gig with the same logistical precision as a corporate gala.”
Expanding on Exquisite Endeavours (Marketing & Branding):
”This is the engine room of everything I do. At Exquisite Endeavours, I don’t just ‘post on social media’—I build visual identities.
The Mission: I help companies find their ‘voice’ in a crowded digital room.
The Strategy: My focus is on branded advertising that actually converts. I specialize in taking a business’s unique vibe and translating it into professional, high-impact content that looks as good as it performs.
The Edge: Because I run my own diverse businesses, I know exactly what it’s like to be in the owner’s shoes. I’m not just a consultant; I’m a practitioner.”
What I’m Most Proud Of
”I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built a bridge between creativity and logistics. I can talk tech and marketing strategy in the morning and be riverside managing a ranch or coordinating a live band by the afternoon. I’ve proven that you don’t have to choose one lane—you can build a whole highway.”
What Readers Should Know
”When people see my brand, I want them to associate it with reliability and aesthetic excellence. Whether you’re staying at the ranch, hiring a band through us, or letting me take over your social media, you’re getting a standard of quality that is non-negotiable. We make the unconventional look professional.”
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
”When I look at where I am today, I have to give credit to the person who built my foundation: my dad. He was a computer programmer back in the 80s—a true pioneer, and he was easily the hardest worker I’ve ever met. But what truly shaped me wasn’t just watching him work; it was seeing him show up. No matter how busy he was, he was there coaching my T-ball team or cheering at my tennis matches.
He raised me with a very specific mindset: he told me I could do anything I set my mind to, and I actually believed him. Because of him, I’ve never spent time questioning if I can do something; I focus on how to do it. He passed away a few years ago, but his voice is still the one in my head telling me to keep pushing. I carry that ‘no-limits’ attitude into every business I start.”
”In terms of daily support and shared ambition, I wouldn’t be where I am without my partner, Eric Vasquez. I’ll never forget meeting him—he was the opening drummer for Dale Watson at Paper Tiger—and it was like finding the missing piece of the puzzle. For the first time, I met someone whose drive and ambition matched my own.
Over the last seven years, we haven’t just built a business together; we’ve built an entire vibe and a brand that represents who we are. He’s an incredible singing drummer, but he’s also my biggest advocate. Having someone by your side who understands the hustle and believes in the vision as much as you do makes all the difference. We’re a team in every sense of the word.”
