Hidden Gems: Meet Stacy Trieu of True Dental & Braces

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Trieu.

Hi Stacy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I didn’t set out to open a dental practice that felt different. I simply wanted to become the kind of dentist I once met—the one who changes how people feel, not just how they smile.

It started on a quiet afternoon at a nursing home.

While volunteering, I noticed an elderly woman sitting alone, her hand gently pressed against her cheek. There was a softness in her eyes, but also pain—deep, lingering pain that had clearly been there for days. When I sat beside her and asked what was wrong, the woman whispered, “My tooth… it hurts so much.”

That moment stayed with me.

A few days later, a local dentist came to provide care for the residents. I watched closely as he approached that same woman—not rushed, not clinical—but warm, calm, and present. He held her hand, spoke gently, and reassured her before doing anything else. Within minutes of relieving her pain, the woman’s entire expression changed. She smiled through tears and kept saying, “Thank you… thank you…”

But what impacted me the most wasn’t just the treatment—it was the connection.

Afterward, the woman looked at the dentist with so much gratitude, as if he had given her more than just relief… as if he had given her dignity back.

That was the moment everything clicked.

That was Dr. Mayer, the man who has changed the way I see dentistry.

Before Dr. Mayer left, I approached him and asked if I could shadow him. I wanted to learn—not just the dentistry, but the way he cared, the way he led, and the way he served his community. Over time, I saw that Dr. Mayer impact went far beyond procedures. He showed up for people. He listened. He treated every patient like they mattered—like family.

And that’s the kind of dentist I knew I wanted to become.

Years later, that vision came to life when I had an opportunity to open True Dental.

Not just a dental office—but a place built on something deeper.

A place where patients are never rushed.

Where fear is met with understanding.

Where every person who walks through the door feels seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.

At True Dental, I carry forward the lesson that changed everything for me. A simple philosophy that guides every decision, every interaction, every moment of care:

“Treat patients the way I would want myself and my family to be treated.”

Because for me, dentistry was never just about teeth.

It was about the people.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path to my dream was never easy—but it was built on quiet strength, sacrifice, and an unshakable purpose.

Long before True Dental ever opened its doors, I was already carrying more than most.

I was a mother of three at that time.
A wife.
A student chasing something bigger than herself.

While working toward my undergraduate degree—and later my master’s—I spent my days working as a nail technician. Hour after hour, caring for clients, supporting my family, and doing whatever it took to keep moving forward.

But my day didn’t end when work was over.

Every night, after long hours and caring for my children, I would go to Starbucks. Not to relax—but to study. Page after page. Practice after practice. Preparing for the dental entrance exam and for my Master thesis.

I stayed there until closing.

Not for a week.
Not for a month.
But for an entire 2-year.

Exhausted—but never defeated.

Because deep down, I knew exactly why I was doing it.

I remembered the elderly woman at the nursing home.
I remembered the pain in her eyes—and the gratitude after it was gone.
I remembered the dentist who showed her what true care looked like.
I imagined how proud my husband and my children would be.

And I told myself:

No matter how hard this journey gets… I will get there.

There were moments of doubt.
Moments of financial stress.
Moments where quitting would have been easier.

But nothing could stop me.

Because my dream wasn’t just about becoming a dentist.
It was about becoming the kind of dentist who changes lives.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about True Dental & Braces ?
I’m a general dentist and the owner of True Dental &Braces here in Schertz. I focus on comprehensive care—from preventive and restorative dentistry to implants, cosmetic and orthodontic treatments—so patients can get everything they need in one place.

I’ve spent hundreds of hours in continuing education because I truly believe my patients deserve the best, most up-to-date care. I’ve also completed 2-year advanced orthodontic training, which allows me to confidently treat cases like Invisalign or traditional braces and help patients improve both function and aesthetics.

What I’m most proud of is the journey it took to get here—balancing being a mother of four, a wife, and a student, while working and studying late nights to pursue dentistry. That experience shaped who I am today and how I care for people.

What sets me apart is simple—I genuinely care. I take the time to listen, to understand, and to make patients feel comfortable. At True Dental, we don’t treat you like just another patient—we treat you like family.
