Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Di Stefano, LMT.
Hi Sara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from New York City and relocated to beautiful San Antonio in 2018. I spent the majority of my NYC career as an Executive Assistant for the New York Stock Exchange, which although I enjoyed, it was not personally fulfilling. I was intrigued about massage therapy for quite some time but It wasn’t until I was laid off from the job I loved that I decided to take the leap and pursue my passion.
I immediately enrolled at the renowned Swedish Institute in NYC and for the first time ever, I felt excited about my career. During my time in school, I obtained several great internships, one being for an NFL team. When I moved to San Antonio, I began working at the only Forbes 4 star spa in the city. I gained so much knowledge and experience and eventually started working at several luxury spas as their on-call massage therapist.
In March of 2021, I took my love of massage to the next level and obtained my massage therapy instructor license! Now having 4 years of massage therapy experience under my belt and 1 year of being a massage therapy instructor, I felt it was time to open my own practice.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest challenge I faced was leaving a city where I knew many people, had many connections, along with a long list of potential clients. It was quite intimidating moving to a city where I didn’t know many people. Thankfully, I was able to establish relationships while getting my name out there and am grateful to have been received warmly by the amazing San Antonio community.
We’ve been impressed with Sara Di Stefano, LMT, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’ve created a warm, inviting, and serene space for my clients to have an enhanced relaxing experience. I am truly passionate about massage therapy and it is my goal to help my clients find rejuvenation and renewal amidst the stresses of life. I believe in the healing power of massage therapy which can bring relief from the pain and discomfort we sometimes experience.
My bodywork style is nurturing and holistic and I have honed my skills and intuitive touch to help powerfully unwind the unique tension in your body while helping your mind and spirit deeply rest into the re-set you need. I am highly skilled in Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Sports, and Myofascial techniques and focus on the benefits of massage therapy to create a balance of mind, body, and spirit.
I trained at the prestigious Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City where I received my Associate’s Degree in Occupational Studies. I am licensed in both New York and Texas.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Working as an on-call massage therapist for three spas has been a great help in networking. I have met so many wonderful people along the way and have created both professional and personal relationships. A lot of the people I’ve gotten to know have referred clients or taken one of my continuing education classes.
I have had some success with Instagram. Using hashtags and creating reels has helped people to find me and get in touch.
I’m also a member of the San Antonio Massage Professionals Facebook group. It is a private group where licensed massage therapists and other wellness/spa professionals in the San Antonio area can discuss all things massage, post events, trainings, classes, employment opportunities, share tips and insights, or chat about just about anything. It’s a great way to connect with other professionals.
