Today we’d like to introduce you to Sandra Roel.
Hi Sandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m a Realtor by profession, so building relationships and helping people find a place to call home has always been at the heart of what I do. Over the years, I realized I wanted to create a place where those same relationships could continue long after the closing table – a place where neighbors, friends, and families could gather, celebrate, and make memories.
That dream became Señoritas Wine Bar. What started as a passion project has grown into a welcoming community gathering place known for great wine, charcuterie, live music, wine club events, dance lessons, and local collaborations. We’ve worked hard to create an atmosphere where everyone feels like family the moment they walk through our doors.
Owning both a real estate business and a wine bar has been incredibly rewarding because they share the same foundation – people. Whether I’m handing someone the keys to their new home or pouring them a glass of wine, my goal is always the same: to make people feel welcomed, valued, and connected. Looking at where we are today, I’m proud of the community we’ve built, and I’m excited for what’s still to come.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many small business owners, we’ve faced our share of challenges. Opening a business is exciting, but keeping it running takes resilience, long hours, and a lot of faith. We’ve had to navigate rising costs, staffing challenges, slow seasons, and the day-to-day demands of owning and operating a small business. There have been moments where we questioned ourselves, but giving up was never an option.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that success isn’t about avoiding obstacles – it’s about learning how to adapt and keep moving forward. Every challenge has helped shape who we are today and has made Señoritas Wine Bar stronger. The unwavering support from our community, our loyal customers, and my family has been the reason we’ve continued to grow.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. The struggles have made every milestone even more meaningful, and they’ve reminded me why I started this dream in the first place – to create a place where people feel welcome, connected, and at home.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Señoritas Wine Bar, we’re more than just a place to enjoy a glass of wine – we’re a place where community comes together. From the moment you walk through our doors, our goal is to make every guest feel welcomed, relaxed, and like they’re among friends.
We specialize in thoughtfully selected wines from around the world, handcrafted charcuterie boards, and creating memorable experiences. Whether it’s our monthly Wine Club tastings, live music, free dance lessons, private events, or community partnerships, we’re always looking for ways to bring people together and create lasting memories.
What truly sets us apart is the personal connection we build with our guests. We take the time to get to know our customers, remember their favorite wines, celebrate their milestones, and create an atmosphere where everyone feels like family. We believe hospitality isn’t just about serving food and wine – it’s about making people feel seen, appreciated, and at home.
As a Realtor and business owner, I’ve always believed in building communities, not just businesses. That philosophy is woven into everything we do at Señoritas Wine Bar. We’re proud to support other local businesses, collaborate with organizations throughout San Antonio, and provide a space where people can gather, celebrate, and make meaningful connections.
More than anything, I want readers to know that Señoritas Wine Bar was built with heart. Every event, every bottle we pour, and every guest we welcome reflects our commitment to creating an experience that’s warm, genuine, and unforgettable.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always a people person. I loved being around family and friends, making others feel included, and finding ways to bring people together. I’ve always had an outgoing personality and enjoyed meeting new people and building relationships.
I’ve also always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Even when I was younger, I loved the idea of creating something of my own and wasn’t afraid to work hard to make it happen. I’ve always believed that with determination, faith, and a positive attitude, you can accomplish just about anything.
Family has always been at the center of my life, and that value continues to shape everything I do today. Whether it’s in real estate or at Señoritas Wine Bar, my passion has always been helping people, creating meaningful connections, and building a sense of community.
Looking back, I think the little girl who loved bringing people together would be proud to see that I’m still doing exactly that – just in a bigger way.
