Hidden Gems: Meet Russell Riggan of Talent Financial Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Riggan.

Hi Russell, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a second-generation financial advisor, and my family has over 100 years of experience in the financial services business. The clients I serve include families, small business owners, corporate executives, farmers and ranchers, retirees, and nonprofit organizations. I started Talent Financial Services and affiliated with Raymond James in May 2021.

I chose to name my practice Talent Financial Services after a biblical parable. In Matthew 25:14–30, Jesus tells the Parable of the Talents, which contains a critical lesson about being good stewards of our God-given abilities and resources. Talent Financial Services is devoted to helping our clients be wise stewards of their wealth. TFS now has nine locations throughout Texas, including Fredericksburg, Midland, Snyder, Granbury, and Big Spring, and we are entrusted with over $1.75 billion in client assets. TFS is also unique in that we have 11 financial advisors between the ages of 30 and 47, allowing us—God-willing—to outlive or age alongside our clients through the decades ahead.

I am a four-time qualifier for the Raymond James Chairman’s Council, recognized in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 as one of the top 100 financial advisors at Raymond James. Additionally, I was named to the Forbes list of Best-in-State Wealth Advisors in both 2024 and 2025. In 2025, I was also ranked among Barron’s Top 1,200 Financial Advisors. I was included on the “40 Under 40” lists by both InvestmentNews and On Wall Street magazines.

I serve on the Raymond James Private Wealth Advisory Council, a prestigious committee of financial advisors within the firm. I have also earned the Private Wealth Advisor designation from Raymond James, which recognizes extensive experience in managing the financial concerns of families, individuals, and organizations of significant wealth.

Managing several small businesses, along with participating in a family business across generations, has given me direct insight into the business planning and estate planning difficulties that countless small business owners encounter.

Earlier in my career, I was a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Snyder, Texas, for nearly 15 years. I earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA from Texas Tech University.

Active in the community, I served as board chair of Cogdell Memorial Hospital from 2009–2023 and currently volunteer as a football and basketball coach for Ira Youth Sports and Shining Stars Sports. I also founded a nonprofit, the Risen Fund, which raises money to support youth activities in the communities TFS serves.

I am a native of Snyder, Texas, and split my time between Fredericksburg and Snyder with my children, Kynlee and Rhett. In my free time, I enjoy team roping, hunting, and fitness activities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everyone faces obstacles, and most people need support during those times. In our business, the market goes through recessions, bear markets, and rough patches on a regular basis. We take pride in helping the families we serve stay calm and patient through volatility in the financial markets, as well as through the difficult seasons of life. Our goal is to form multigenerational, lifelong relationships that keep families focused on what’s important to them, not the daily stressors of life.

Where do you see things going in the next 5–10 years?
I’ve never been more excited about the outlook of our industry. As people rely more heavily on technology, especially artificial intelligence, the need for genuine personal relationships will become even more important. We focus on building multigenerational relationships with our clients, so we truly understand what matters to them and their families.

I personally believe we may be entering a golden age of American history. Our country currently enjoys the greatest level of prosperity and opportunity it has ever had. Having a trusted professional in both the financial services and medical fields are two of the most important decisions most people make.

In our industry, there are more licensed professionals over age 70 than under age 30. TFS is uniquely positioned to grow older alongside our clients and work with their future generations as many current industry professionals retire. We are early adopters of the latest innovations and technology in financial services to ensure we remain on the cutting edge of delivering high-quality financial advice.
