Hi Rocio, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hey there, it’s Rocio! I am a Rio Grande Valley native — born and raised in Edinburg, Texas (forever a 956 girl). I moved to San Antonio, Texas in 2018 for school and graduated Fall of 2021 with my bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA).
The Daily Marketing Co. was founded as a result of my passion for branding and marketing. I created my lifestyle blog in 2017 and started out by building my very own website. I spent so much time researching and learning about branding and design that over time, I became obsessed with content creation and the specifics behind the power of media. It was March of 2021 and I was sitting at a local coffee shop with an inclination to make something profitable for myself. I started asking what it was that I really wanted. I was heavily invested in social media management at the time and had previous experience doing so on a smaller scale for local businesses/brands. I had seen videos during the pandemic expressing how vital social media had become and I realized just how strong of a desire I had to be in this industry. I wanted to help others with what I felt was a gift. The truth is, not just anyone can execute a vision in the form of digital marketing/social media. I felt that I had really sharpened this skill and was equipped to venture into something on a larger scale. So while at that coffee shop, I literally started building a website and brainstorming names for my business. I had no idea how it was going to happen or what the process would look like but I just knew I was going to follow through with it. I’m telling you, passion and determination basically took over. I knew exactly what I wanted to build and just went for it. That day, I left the shop with a list of possible names and a very rough draft version of TDM’s website.
Fast forward, for months I kept working on my website and the vision I was trying to create for the overall brand. I was still in college full-time and working full-time as well so mostly gave up late nights and weekends to perfect my craft. I felt that this was my ultimate calling and all doors sort of opened up for me to move forward. Of course, I was scared, clueless, and thought about the possibility of failure but still, I knew I had to explore the idea. I went all in, took a leap of faith, and launched my own digital marketing agency in July of 2021. The rest is history, as cliché as that sounds! 🙂
At TDM, my role is to provide a clear, precise, and effective approach to marketing, branding, and design. I’m highly motivated by my commitment to success and take pride in offering detail-oriented work held to the highest standard. I currently still reside in the beautiful Alamo city but spend some of my weekends visiting my hometown in the RGV. Besides being passionate about marketing and social media, I am also an avid coffee shop explorer and you can typically find me hand in hand with my fiancé. We love wandering the city of San Antonio together — whether it be for brunch, dinner, desserts, and everything in between. I am also a follower of Jesus and feel so blessed to live a life saved by His grace! I definitely owe any and all success to Him.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Like anything else, there is always a “not so pretty” side, especially when it comes to starting your own business. I, of course, struggled with the technical side of things such as making sure everything was done in a professional way that would attract clients, properly executing my vision, and certainly all the logistics that come with clients, business interactions, etc. But I feel like the greatest obstacle was the one I faced internally. If I’m being honest, there were many days when I felt like giving up simply because I felt inadequate. I often felt self-doubt and questioned whether or not there was even space for me in the industry. Thankfully, I have an incredible support system — my fiancé and my family, who never gave up on my own dreams even when I almost did. Also, God has kept me sane through the whole journey and has given me peace and understanding when I have needed it most. It’s crazy, but some people try to leave out their personality and beliefs when it comes to business but from experience, I feel like this has only attracted people and clients once they realize they connect with the face behind the brand. Needless to say, I am just as thankful for the lows as I am for the highs. I wouldn’t have one without the other.

What does success mean to you?
I would say this is definitely a personal response but I feel like success is determined by my own level of happiness. The fact that I have a job that is based purely on my greatest passions is what I would define as successful. To me, it’s not necessarily in the form of a certain income or status but rather how I feel about my place in life. If I am happy, I am successful. It’s simple.
