Hidden Gems: Meet Robert Carrasco of Geodomes of South Texas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Carrasco.

Hi Robert, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey started with a mix of curiosity and a love for nature and wildlife. I’ve always been drawn to projects that blend nature, design, and hospitality and that’s what inspired the idea behind Geodomes of South Texas. I saw an opportunity to bring something different to the region: a place where people could disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with nature, without sacrificing comfort.

When I first started, it was just an idea on paper finding land, learning about geodesic structures, navigating permits, and building from scratch was a challenge. But I loved every part of it. I focused on creating a space that felt intentional every dome, every view, even down to details like local coffee and how guests experience the morning light.

Over time, word spread organically, and it’s been incredible to see guests come from all over the world and country come visit us. What started as a personal project has grown into something much bigger a place that’s part getaway, part inspiration.

Being an entrepreneur gives me the freedom, time to travel, spend time with family and not miss major life milestones its been an incredible challenging and rewarding journey to say the least.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. The hardest part by far was getting the initial capital to start a project like this. Geodomes of South Texas was 100% self-funded, so every step had to be carefully planned and executed. There were moments when progress felt slow balancing costs, doing much of the work myself, and figuring things out as I went.

But looking back, that challenge became one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. It forced me to be creative, resourceful, and hands-on in every aspect from design and construction to branding and guest experience. It wasn’t easy, but it made the final result that much more meaningful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Geodomes of South Texas is a unique glamping experience designed to bring people closer to nature without giving up comfort or style. We offer luxury stays in modern geodesic domes surrounded by the quiet beauty of South Texas where guests can relax, unplug, and enjoy the simplicity of nature with a touch of sophistication.

What sets us apart is the balance we’ve created between design, comfort, and environment. Every dome was built with intention panoramic views of the landscape, cozy interiors, and thoughtful touches like local coffee and personalized amenities. It’s not just about a stay; it’s about creating a memorable experience that feels both grounding and inspiring.

We’re known for our attention to detail and our connection to the local area from the wildlife you’ll see at sunrise to the nearby small town charm and coffee spots. Brand wise, I’m most proud that Geodomes of South Texas has stayed true to its vision: authentic, centered around God and nature, and built from the ground up with passion.

What I want readers to know is that Geodomes of South Texas isn’t just a place to stay it’s an experience designed to slow you down, reconnect you with nature, and remind you of what really matters.

How do you think about happiness?
Many things make me happy. Having good health and the ability to see the beautiful world makes me happy these days. But so does having a good family and great relationships with my support system. Oh and my 2 dogs! I love seeing them everyday excited to play.
