Hi Precious, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wow so I’ve been a Data Analyst for nearly 17 extremely fast years! I joined the Air Force straight after high school and Data Analytics was my first job. I went on to get a master’s degree in data Analysis in 2020 after seeing how much the data landscape had evolved since I initially started in 2008. Fast forward to today, I am using data and reporting to make life easier for construction managers. Through market research, I realized the construction industry could really use a tech facelift. Reporting is usually done across different software systems, making it difficult to share information in a structured format, allowing stakeholders to stay informed on project progress and performance at their fingertips. We enable effective communication, monitor progress, and help manage risks and costs through automated PowerBI reporting for effective decision making. We have a key interest in safety, project management and finance reporting.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course it has not been a smooth road! I laughed at that. Conveying the need for a data analyst in the construction industry requires many touch points with the customer, lots of demonstrations and to be frank, you have to show an impact to the bottom line very early on in conversations. Many times, managers are so far in the weeds of things that they are not aware of the high volume of data coming in daily through project life cycle, finance, equipment, people, training, safety etc. This industry often misses the opportunity to use this historical information to make spot on, money saving, bottom line impacting decisions. Also, what if the data is still on sticky notes and receipts?
