Pedro, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started professional dog training in 2017 for a large national company. I absorbed all the information and experience presented to me, which allowed me to cross-train in different positions. Once COVID came and went, I decided to venture on my own and officially start Wag-A-Holics. I initially offered Dog Boarding for dogs with behavioral limitations from the comfort of my own home. Then, soon after I started offering training to help my clients’ dogs.
Once I decided to return to the training world, I knew I would do things a little differently. I wanted to present a lot of the behind-the-scenes to the public. I wanted my clients to see how their dogs were adjusting, performing, and progressing. I believe this approach made for a personable experience. Potential clients, upon our first meeting, would ask about my dogs or dogs currently enrolled in training since they were able to track their experience with us. By the end of the first year, we moved into our first training facility. Wag-A-Holics was able to expand its reach, helping more dogs than ever. We won Best of Dog Training in the City of Seguin and Top 3 Best Dog Boarding in New Braunfels.
Now entering the 3rd year of business, we have moved into a new, larger facility, allowing Wag-A-Holics to offer new services to further service our community. We have expanded into Pet grooming, Doggy Daycare, and Group Classes. We were able to win Best of Dog Training for the 2nd year in a row. We’re excited to further our connection with our surrounding community and to continue to serve our clients, one wagging tail at a time.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road here has been a pretty smooth experience. Long before I was a dog trainer, I managed an insurance company, which taught me a lot behind the scenes of operating a business. From customer services to balancing books, from managing staff to achieving sales goals. But when my personal experience fell short, I had an amazing support system. My husband, who was running his own residential cleaning business, my business mentors, and friends in the dog training business. It truly takes a pack!

Wag-A-Holics is your one shop for all of your dog’s needs. For training, we offer puppy training, general obedience, and behavior modification. Once you complete a program, you will have access to follow-up lessons, group classes, and doggy daycare to continue your progress. We want to be there every step of the way!
We specialize in boarding dogs with behavior limitations, which include people and dog reactivity or aggression, separation and/or kennel anxiety, and other special needs.
We are proud that our brand is recognized as accepting the dogs deemed “hard or unacceptable”. We enjoy seeing the owners being able to travel again or just relax, knowing their dogs will be taken care of.
