Hi Paola, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My journey began after the birth of my first baby, igniting a desire to pursue something more significant. I yearned for a career that would allow me to be fully present for my child’s milestones. With a background as a Dental Hygienist and a degree in Business Marketing, I recognized a need in the dental industry for greater flexibility in work schedules. Thus, the idea for GUIA Practice Management was born – a dental staffing and brokerage company. Starting with staffing was a natural choice, as I empathize with many women who craved flexibility without the constraints of a traditional 8-to-5 job. However, the onset of the pandemic brought unprecedented challenges, stopping operations in the dental field and my business alike. Amid the uncertainty, I initially seized the opportunity to pursue my real estate license as a pastime to feel like I was keeping myself busy. Unexpectedly, real estate became my true calling. Leveraging the trust of my dental clients, I transitioned into assisting them with Dental practice sales and acquisitions. This pivotal moment marked the evolution of GUIA into a comprehensive dental brokerage firm. In 2021, with my second child’s arrival, GUIA expanded its services to include brokerage. We now proudly guide numerous dentists through the process of buying and selling practices, ensuring a smooth transition for retiring practitioners and preserving their legacies. I am immensely proud of the dedicated team of women we have assembled at GUIA and the invaluable services we provide both within the dental industry and in the broader realm of real estate.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The pandemic presented unprecedented challenges, bringing operations in the dental field and my business to a halt. Amid this uncertainty, I decided to pursue my real estate license, initially as a way to keep myself occupied. Little did I know this would be a blessing in disguise.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My entrepreneurial journey began in childhood, where I discovered my passion for business ventures. From selling handmade bracelets during third-grade recess to peddling store-bought chocolates to neighbors, I was always driven by the thrill of sales and the satisfaction of entrepreneurship. This early passion has shaped my career and led me to where I am today.
