Hidden Gems: Meet Nathan Edmunds of Soul Relaxation: Massage Therapy and Healing Arts

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nathan Edmunds.

Hi Nathan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my healing arts journey nearly a decade ago after completing my foot reflexology certification and shortly after I obtained my clinical hypnosis certification. I provided mobile foot reflexology and hypnosis to clients in the surrounding area of Lubbock, Texas. After my wife and I moved to Kerrville in 2018 I attended the Academy for Massage Therapy Training in San Antonio in 2019. I have been a LMT since 2020 and have been operating Soul Relaxation: Massage Therapy and Healing Arts since 2023 after working for a corporate massage establishment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It wasn’t the smoothest road. The first challenge was massage school- working full time beginning in the early morning and afternoon, commuting to Helotes from Kerrville to attend the night class at AMTT spending about 2 1/2 hours on the road round trip getting home around midnight. The next challenge was Covid that permanently closed the AMTT location in Helotes. Thankfully the school was able to quickly pivot to online classes and all hands-on training and most of the internship hours were complete. After things opened up again in June I completed internship hours at AMTT’s Park North location graduating with honors and perfect attendance. After passing the MBLEX it took until the end of the year for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation to issue the license (sometimes I joke that my daughter was conceived and born faster than the slow turning wheels of bureaucracy since our daughter was born 2 months before the license was issued.) January 2021 license and hand. I was hired on immediately at Massage Heights in Boerne (where I worked until June 2024). The next challenge was opening my own business which was delayed by a car accident in April 2022 where I was out of work with injuries for a couple months. I obtained my DBA and remodeled a room in our house that had its own entrance and its own bathroom that met all the state requirements. Unfortunately, I was misinformed by the city when I asked if I could operate a massage business from our home before remodeling.- it turns out due to zoning restrictions that I couldn’t and by the time I opened up, I had only worked a few weeks before having to find a new location. In June 2023 I moved into my current office location (less than 600 feet away from my property) where I’ve developed a serene environment and slowly, but surely developed enough clientele to quit Massage Heights (which freed up a 90 minute round-trip commute each day). despite obstacles and challenges, I still feel that it has been very much worth it since being a. Independent Massage Therapist is a very rewarding path.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Soul Relaxation: Massage Therapy and Healing Arts?
I am a licensed massage therapist, reflexologist, and clinical hypnotist. My focus is to give people the best lives that they can live: to be as pain-free, stress-free, and as fulfilled as possible. Whether it is to help someone have a better day with a relaxing therapeutic session or addressing physical pain and improving mobility, or helping to get resolve for the more underlying issues of pain, stress, unwanted behaviors, and to release past traumas -I do what I can to help my clients in all the best ways possible.

I am known for providing the best massage experience possible at a low cost, including membership options at save clients in additional 15% on average, which adds up if you get a couple massages a month. I focus on optimal client comfort: a calmly lit spacious room with a customized massage table that has a table warmer, contour cut away for neck and breast and an adjustable face cradle (for people with even the longest necks) and adjustable, tilt (so you’re not flat on your back on your face up, but nice and reclined); an infrared heater suspended above the table for clients that like it warm; complementary aromatherapy, complementary warm towels, and a growing list of add-ons to make the experience the best one possible.

I am set apart from others by being an independent massage therapist not a corporation-if you book a massage or clinical hypnosis session-you’re getting me. So if you read any reviews (all 5 star with over 40 on Google and over 70 on MassageBook) it is based on the person who will be helping you. I’m not sure if I’m the cheapest in town, but I offer affordable therapy options that make it easier on the wallet with packages, memberships, and good gift card sales.
I am also the only provider for spa week gift cards in Kerrville.
I suppose I want your readers to know that I’m here for them if they need a good Massage Therapist if whatever treatments for their stress, pain, or mobility aren’t working then massage therapy from a therapist that knows what they’re doing can be a good option to help them. I’m also here for anyone who can’t get passed whatever it is that’s holding them back in life or whatever trauma or grief they have. Things can get better. Hopefully by the beginning of the year I’ll have my multimedia LLC company going and I will be able offer hypnosis audio customizable for anyone in the world (who speaks English).

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me success is going for it and failure is not going for it. You can have excuses or fears that hold you back to not do the things in life that you really wanna do and have achievement in the eyes of the world. However, If you’re not feeling fulfilled then you’re not in the realm of success. Success is not the attainment of material things. It is the push and drive to live the best life that you can for yourself and others. There are plenty of successful career driven people who have not succeeded because perhaps deep down a family life is what they really wanted and they’ve been ignoring that since they’re so focused on what success has been believed to be. Failing at attainment is not failing. Successes, is the act, the journey, the persistence and the perseverance and resilience to do what you’re supposed to do in this life or become that what you’re supposed to be.
