Hidden Gems: Meet Marsha Nelson,Phd of Project Insight®️

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marsha Nelson,Phd.

Hi Marsha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
1997 Lucia Capacchione, PhD and I co-founded the Creative Journal Expressive Arts certification training program
Certifying hundreds of graduates in 19 countries worldwide.
In 2004, Mycah Lee Arellano one of our Edinburg, Texas graduates created Project Insight®️, a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to empower individuals by offering them educational & creative healing tools.
Project Insight®️ has been offering workshops, camps, training all over the globe. The home base is now in San Antonio,
Our latest Project Insight®️ Teen Leadership Camp was held on Aug. 2, 2025, in San Antonio.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mental health programs ARE a tough sell.
Food, amusement, travel are popular items for consumers. Mental and behavioral change is often times is a difficult sell to get people to buy into making life long positive changes.
Those individuals who take the training are so happy they invested their time & money in their efforts

We’ve been impressed with Project Insight®️, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Since 2004, we are a 501c3 non-profit of which I am the executive director
I am an instructor at heart. I enjoy teaching the Project Insight®️ Creative Journal Expressive Arts Institute®️ bilateral drawing and journaling to anyone who is interested in discovering their inherent gifts and talents.
I am known for initating the training by asking Lucia Capacchione PhD, ATR, REAT, the pioneering expressive arts therapist and author of 23 books to start a certification training program in July of 1997.
Since the 11/22/22 death of .Dr. Capacchione we have continued to certify candidates and help our communities by offering workshops and more to help individuals realize their creative talents and embrace their best self.
I have authored Creative Journal for the Cancer Survivor & Caregiver and What’s on Your Agenda books. I have founded and owned Seal’s Swim School in Seal Beach, CA , M&M Travel in Edinburg,, TX
I was chosen as 1986 Woman of the Year for Orange County, CA I was a member of the 2008 Leadership Women of Texas and 2012 Leadership Women of America.

How do you define success?
Success is defined by following your heart’s desires. This had led me to my today.

My motto is, “ If it isn’ t fun, I don’t do it “

Pricing:

  • $100 pet hour for a private session Zprovate pay.
  • $5,200 for year long certification training program
