Today we’d like to introduce you to Lyn-Z Andrews.
Hi Lyn-Z, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been a trans drag entertainer for 22 years. I started at the Saint Show Bar doing Tuesday Talent Nights.
I later became Saint newcomer of the year in 2006, which then paved the way for my career in the art of drag. capturing titles such as Miss Gay Austin TX USofA Miss Gay SA TX USofA San Antonio 2018. Entertainer of the year and recently Texas All American Goddess 2021.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been smooth and it continues to be a struggle. So many issues going on with the likes of “don’t say gay bill” in Florida.
Everyday trans and gay people are always fighting for our spot at the table. but as long as I have a platform I will continue to fight the good fight for the future LGBTIA plus community.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Lyn-Z Andrews embodies all that it is to be a consummate Drag Performer. Getting her start in San Antonio, she has been exciting audiences for nearly two decades. Her drag styles go from illusions to the sexy sirens to pageant queens to Latin beauties and everything in between.
But in addition to her amazing makeup and hair stylings, she has also been the host of successful programs ranging from the family friendly Dinner and a Show to the adult-themed Peep Show. Her illusions always have audience seeing and feeling like they are being entertained by popular artists like Dolly Parton, Pink, Reba, and even Prince.
She is the first trans radio personality woman of color on Tejano radio and voted Best Local Artist By Your Sa Express News. She is also currently a top 5 nominee for the SA Current. She is the First Trans woman of color to also host the City of San Antonio’s Mardi Gras River Parade.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My mother Linda Fahlberg Stevens and Drag mother Erica Andrews were both a huge inspiration to my drag career and work ethic.
My Mom taught me how to be a strong independent woman and my drag mother show me how to handle myself on stage and how to handle drag as a business.
I also credit Pink and Dolly Parton because they are so humble and yet so powerful. i strive to be and meet them one day.
