Hi Jadrien , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Myself and my business partner Andrew Custer both came from low income households with a passion for art and overcoming adversity in reference to those who still see tattoos and our artwork as a affiliation of a persons character being of questionable/delinquent nature. Now we are tattoo artist and owners of Ironsight Ink in Boerne TX. I jadrien urias am licensed paramedic and started out my journey as a tattoo artist at Atlas Tattoo back in June of 2020 and completed my apprenticeship back in February of 2021 and then decided to travel to the east coast in May of 2022 and now I’m the owner of Ironsight Ink. Some of my favorite styles to tattoo are Neo-traditional, Traditional, and Black and Grey. And my business partner Andrew Custer began his tattoo apprenticeship back in 2014 when he decided to apply my own illustrative fantasy art onto skin. Although that is his favorite genre, he welcome all styles in an attempt to be as versatile in tattooing as possible. I am also the owner of Ironsight Ink. We’re apart of thriving and constantly growing community and able to share our expertise and experience with those seeking our services.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been difficult with some of the prejudice behavior and negative outlook on those with tattoos, as well as even having the opportunity to get a lease for a space to showcase our artwork from that same negative perspective. And as artist when you relocate you must rebrand and rebuild your trust and name among that community which can be very difficult especially when dealing with preconceived stigmas of our profession.
