Hidden Gems: Meet Indigo Ikemba of Blooming Indigo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Indigo Ikemba.

Indigo, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well, my name is Indigo Ikemba, and I am the owner of Blooming Indigo, Ltd. My brand offers holistic services and wellness products. In a nutshell, I am a Full Spectrum doula and a sound healer. I started this work (holistic wellness) back in 2015 when the gems were passed down to me by my Godfather David, and I was introduced to womb healing and wellness by Ivy Ruffin, the owner and CEO of Seanjari Preeti Womb Healing. This is when my spiritual awakening began, and I started integrating all the things I learned into my personal life.

I gave birth to my first child Eli in the beginning of 2021, and sadly he passed away shortly after he was born. He is my reason; his life is what ignited my fire and revealed to me my purpose. I knew that I didn’t want any other woman to go through what I went or have to go through it alone. A few months after that, I began my certification to become a Certified Doula through Cherishing Life Beginnings Doula Academy led by Ife Adebowale CD-B/P, SM, BA, MBA, PhD-ABD.

As a Full Spectrum doula, I provide fertility support, prenatal and postpartum care, labor and birth support, and bereavement support. I’ve integrated sound healing in my practice as well, playing the singing bowls for babies and women in labor.

Navigating grief is what led me to sound healing. I started playing the crystal singing bowls to soothe my heart and my mind. With practice and time, I began playing publicly at The Historic Pearl, yoga events, and local parks. I now offer private individual and group sound healing sessions.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a smooth road; I like to think of it as divine alignment. The only obstacle I’ve encountered has been myself. I tend to get in my own way. There’s some gigs or opportunities where I second guess myself or wonder if I’ll be well received, but the turnouts are always the proof that I am on the right track. Events and opportunities have been easy to come by and my clients gravitate towards me without me doing much advertising.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blooming Indigo, Ltd.?
Under my brand Blooming Indigo, I offer doula services, wellness products, holistic services, sound healing, juice therapy, and beautiful adornments such as crowns and waist beads. My wellness products consist of tea blends, body butters, and oils, bath soaks, chapstick, and supplements in the form of capsules. The holistic services I offer are aura clearing, chakra cleansing, yoni steams, womb massages, castor oil packing, Mother’s Blessing ceremony, and Closing of the Bones ceremony.

I became a certified juice therapist through the Juice Guru Institute in 2021 when I started my postpartum fitness journey. I quickly realized the convenience of juicing and what the benefits from different fruits and vegetables can do for your body. I began making chlorophyll water and different juice blends that catered to different ailments or bodily needs and then sold them in my community at local events.

I believe what sets me apart as a doula is the fact that I offer a full spectrum of services, and I also integrate sound healing in my care.

Brand-wise, I am proud and confident that I offer genuine care, and every product I make is made by me personally with love.

I want readers to know that I’ve poured a lot of love and intention into my business, and my clients’ results and reactions definitely reflect that.

Alright, so before we go, can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Collaborations are literally the highlight of my business! I love working with other creatives and healers within the community for events and markets; I also love making music with other artists.

If anyone is interested in collaborating with me, please email me at [email protected]

If you’d like to support me or donate to my birth fund that was created to offer free services to women in need, you can do so at www.thebloomingindigo.com/donate
