Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Jowers
Hi Heather, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started in restaurants at 19 as a hostess and worked my way up the chain by constantly putting myself in the positions to be useful. I always was looking for the next step where I worked at. I always kept my connections and never tried to burn bridges and in the end, it’s gotten me a lot of amazing opportunities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I struggled with trying to balance college and working in the service industry. I eventually realized I was making great money, and I was really good at what I did, so I quit school completely. I worked at several places that shut down and I had to start over. And when it happened with Covid, and I had to really start from the bottom of the food chain and work myself back up to management.
It’s always an interesting being in this industry meeting and interacting with so many different personalities. Some you blend with and others you clash with, so it’s been a journey learning to navigate staying professional towards every single person you meet.

Ranch Motel & Leisure Club is a recently renovated boutique motel in the heart of the city that offers cozy stays, pool hangs, pickleball courts and bars in an elevated atmosphere.
I am the Hotel Operations Manager. My role covers hotel happenings and events throughout the property.
We aren’t your typical hotel pool and bar. We’ve created a space that makes you feel like you’re not in the middle of the city, you’re on a vacation, even if it’s just for a few hours of the day. We also offer annual memberships that include the pickleball courts, pool and special events.
We take a lot of pride in the products and brands we partner with, from retail to alcohol. We want the most sustainable and unique options to be available for our guests.
We throw cool events that you’re not going to attend anywhere in San Antonio. I’m working to bring cool brands and cool vendors out and throw unique experiences for everyone.
What makes you happy?
Being fulfilled is what makes me the happiest. I love knowing that I’m doing my best to make everyone around me happy and satisfied, whether it’s through customer service, enjoying their time here or just being myself. I tend to struggle with self-doubt and imposter syndrome sometimes, and it makes a world of difference when I get praises. I like to feel I’m doing exactly what I’m meant to be doing in life.
