Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Ryan Joseph.
Hi Dr. Ryan , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Titles:
Medical Director: Dr. Ryan Joseph — Co-Founder, Performance Medicine
Practice Director: Rob Guzman — Co-Founder, Performance Medicine
Dr. Ryan:
I spent over 10 years working in emergency rooms—treating people in crisis, often with complications from chronic illnesses that had been building for years. Over time, I started noticing a pattern: the same faces were coming back through the doors, and the issues were preventable. It started to feel like we were just patching people up and sending them right back into the same environment that got them sick in the first place. I kept thinking, there has to be more to medicine than this.
That realization led me to take a step back and rethink everything. What if we could shift from reaction to prevention? What if we stopped managing symptoms and started building stronger foundations for long-term health? That’s where the idea for Performance Medicine really started to take shape.
Rob:
My path was a little different, but it came from the same kind of conviction. I started out in engineering, but I couldn’t ignore this growing passion to help people live better—not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, even financially. So I pivoted. I opened a gym and spent a decade walking alongside people as a coach, trainer, and advisor. What I realized is: most people don’t need another quick fix. They need someone in their corner who’s going to help them understand their body, build habits, and make long-term, strategic changes.
That’s what brought Ryan and me together—we both saw the gap between healthcare and real life. Performance Medicine is about filling that gap. It’s where medical care meets strategy. Where fitness, nutrition, and health aren’t siloed, but integrated. We’re here to help people live stronger, longer, and with way more purpose.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not exactly—but it’s been the right one.
From day one, we knew Performance Medicine wasn’t going to be your typical clinic. We weren’t interested in slapping band-aids on symptoms or offering one-size-fits-all health advice. We wanted to build something that truly integrates medical care, fitness, and nutrition—a place where people could take ownership of their health with a team behind them. That kind of vision doesn’t come together overnight.
There’s been a lot of intentionality in defining who we are and what makes us different. We’ve spent hours developing a model that reflects our values, building the right team, and educating our community on what real, sustainable health looks like. That kind of foundational work takes time—and sometimes, it takes a little grit too.
But even in the hard parts, we’ve seen so much support and the clear favor of God. We’ve had the right doors open, the right people show up, and the right moments confirm that this is exactly where we’re supposed to be. So while it hasn’t always been easy, it’s been deeply worth it. And we believe we’re just getting started.
We’ve been impressed with Performance Medicine, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We’re doing healthcare a little differently than the average telehealth clinic. Health isn’t something to “fix” when it breaks—it’s something to build every day. That’s why we combine real medical care with fitness and nutrition strategy to help people perform at their best and live longer, healthier lives. Whether you’re an athlete chasing performance goals, a busy parent trying to stay energized, an older adult seeking longevity, or just someone who wants to feel better in their own skin—we’re here to walk with you.
We started Performance Medicine (currently fully virtual via telehealth) because we were tired of watching people fall through the cracks. Our team—made up of medical professionals, coaches, nutritionists, and problem-solvers—came together with one shared vision: to build a place where your care is personal, proactive, and long-term. No quick fixes, no one-size-fits-all plans. Just strategy, science, and support.
We also just launched a monthly subscription model because we know consistency is key. With it, our patients get access to ongoing care, individualized plans, and the flexibility to get what they need when they need it. It’s designed to make high-level health more accessible, sustainable, and part of everyday life.
On the treatment side, we specialize in helping people optimize and heal from the inside out—things like hormone health for men and women, peptide therapy, hair restoration, anti-aging and rejuvenation treatments, sexual health, and more. These are the things that often go ignored until they become a problem. We’d rather help you take action now, so you can feel great long before anything breaks down.
At the end of the day, what we’re most proud of is the community we’re building. Our patients trust us. They feel seen here. They know they have a team in their corner. And that kind of trust is everything.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Those very close to us might know this, but we’re not just health nerds—we’re heart people. From the outside, it’s easy to see the medical expertise, the data-driven strategies, and the fitness-forward mindset. But behind all of that is a deep belief that health is personal, and healing happens best in relationships. We don’t just care about labs and protocols—we care about people. Their stories. Their why.
We’ve both walked away from more traditional career paths because we believed people deserve more than surface-level care. What most don’t realize is how much time we spend behind the scenes dreaming, planning, and praying over how to serve our community better. Whether it’s how to make hormone therapy more accessible, how to offer subscription care that actually works, or how to bring together a team that treats patients like family—it’s all driven by the same goal: helping people feel better, live longer, and show up fully for the life they were made for.
So yeah—we’re about performance. But we’re also about purpose. And that might just be the most important part.
Absolutely we are very transparent with our pricing. Part of our mission is to educate patients on their insurance and why we have chosen not to accept insurance. Even with prescriptions we are way under the market. We strive to separate from the rest in order to make healthcare affordable for anyone.
