Today we’d like to introduce you to Cristy Lime.
Hi Cristy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been drawn to business – the growth, the resilience, and the process of building something meaningful long before I realized entrepreneurship would become such a defining part of my life.
A lot of my early experiences taught me responsibility at a young age (can share additional details if that’s desired over coffee) Over time, that translated into a deep appreciation for structure, discipline, and learning how to adapt when life or business doesn’t go according to plan. I’ve always been someone who naturally looked for ways to improve systems, solve problems, and help people move forward more effectively. In several of my previous roles, the workload eventually became large enough that multiple people were hired to support what I had previously managed on my own. Looking back, I think that reinforced both my operational mindset and my ability to build efficient systems.
My path into the startup and entrepreneurial ecosystem really accelerated through Geekdom in San Antonio. What started as simply looking for a coworking space in 2021 turned into one of the most transformative seasons of my life and career. I launched my company in 2019, then in 2022 went through programming as a founder, eventually joined the Geekdom team full-time, became deeply involved in the San Antonio community, mentored other entrepreneurs, and recently decided to take my second leap at entrepreneurship.
During my time there, I helped support and operationalize programs that served more than 1,000 founders through initiatives like Startup Bootcamp, Women Founders Network, Incubator, Pre-Accelerator, mentorship programming, workshops, and pitch events. I had a front-row seat to the realities of entrepreneurship – the vision, the pressure, the burnout, the pivots, the wins, and the moments where founders hit operational ceilings while trying to scale.
While serving the community I was also building my own company alongside my business partner, Jon Clark. Jon and I met online in 2020 and have only met twice in person, but have scaled our company to six figures by the work we do. We realized early on that we shared a similar passion for helping businesses operate more efficiently. What started as solving operational and technology problems for small businesses evolved into co-founding The Optimization Specialists.
Today, we help growing businesses identify and fix revenue leaks – streamlining operations, optimizing workflows, implementing CRM and project management systems, and ultimately scaling without creating unnecessary chaos. A big part of our philosophy is that growth shouldn’t feel constantly reactive or overwhelming – systems should support the vision, not slow it down. We’ve created a strong community, launched a podcast and served businesses all over the nation.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned throughout this journey is that entrepreneurship is rarely a straight line. A lot of building happens in the messy middle – when you don’t have all the answers yet, but you continue moving forward anyway. That mindset has shaped both my personal growth and the way I support others today.
San Antonio has played a huge role in that story, and I’m incredibly grateful to continue building alongside such a collaborative and mission-driven community.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road – and honestly, I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs, even if it doesn’t always look that way from the outside.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that growth often comes with periods of uncertainty, pressure, and rebuilding. There were seasons where I was balancing a full-time role while simultaneously building a company on nights and weekends. There were moments where I questioned whether I was making the right decisions, whether I was moving fast enough, or whether I was truly ready for the level of responsibility that comes with scaling something bigger.
I’ve also experienced firsthand how easy it is for founders to become overwhelmed trying to wear every hat at once. Ironically, even as someone who helps businesses improve systems and operations, I’ve had to learn those lessons personally too – learning how to protect my time, set boundaries, prioritize effectively, and avoid getting stuck in constant “busy work” instead of focusing on the highest-impact activities.
Another challenge has been navigating growth while still figuring things out in real time. Entrepreneurship rarely gives you the luxury of feeling fully ready before the next level arrives. A lot of the journey has required making decisions before having every answer, learning through action, and becoming comfortable operating in uncertainty.
At the same time, I think those experiences are what shaped me into a better operator, mentor, and leader. They’ve given me a deeper level of empathy for the founders and businesses we support today because I understand both the excitement and the weight that comes with building something meaningful.
Looking back, I wouldn’t call it a smooth road, but I would absolutely call it a worthwhile one.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Optimization Specialists ?
The Optimization Specialists was built around a simple idea: growth shouldn’t feel constantly chaotic.
As businesses grow, many founders hit a point where the systems that once worked start breaking down. Leads fall through the cracks, communication becomes reactive, teams become overwhelmed, and the business owner often turns into the bottleneck without even realizing it. That’s where we come in.
We help growing businesses identify and fix what we call “revenue leaks” – the operational gaps, disconnected systems, inefficiencies, and workflow issues that quietly cost businesses time, money, energy, and growth opportunities. Our work focuses heavily on operations strategy, workflow optimization, CRM systems, automation, and project management infrastructure.
What makes us different is that we don’t just implement software – we help businesses create clarity. Technology alone doesn’t solve problems if the underlying processes are broken. We spend a lot of time understanding how a business actually operates day-to-day before recommending solutions. In many cases, we’re helping founders simplify, align, and regain visibility into their business so they can scale more sustainably.
A large part of our work is also rooted in empathy and real-world experience. We’ve worked alongside hundreds of founders and growing teams, and we understand that entrepreneurship can feel overwhelming when growth outpaces operational structure. Because of that, we approach our work as strategic partners rather than just service providers.
One thing I’m especially proud of is the community and relationships we’ve built along the way. A lot of our growth has come through referrals, relationships, and word-of-mouth from people who trust the way we work and the level of care we bring to our clients. We’ve also been able to expand beyond San Antonio and support businesses across the country while still staying deeply connected to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem that helped shape us.
At the end of the day, our goal is simple: help businesses operate more efficiently so business owners can spend less time stuck in operational chaos and more time focused on the vision they originally set out to build.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to connect with us is honestly through conversation and relationships. A lot of our opportunities, partnerships, and client relationships have come through genuine community connection, referrals, and shared conversations around growth, operations, and entrepreneurship.
At The Optimization Specialists, we work with growing businesses that are looking to scale more intentionally – particularly companies that feel like they’ve hit an operational ceiling and need better systems, workflows, or visibility to support their next phase of growth.
We love collaborating with operators, creatives, agencies, consultants, and community builders who are passionate about helping businesses improve and evolve. Whether that looks like strategic consulting, workflow optimization, speaking opportunities, podcast conversations, workshops, or simply sharing ideas, we’re always open to connecting with people who align with our values and mission.
I’d also encourage readers to follow along online. We regularly share insights around entrepreneurship, systems, growth, leadership, and the realities of building a business in real time (on LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Podcast platforms). One thing I’ve learned is that some of the most meaningful opportunities start with a conversation or connection.
And if there’s one thing I’d want readers to know, it’s this: you don’t have to build alone. San Antonio has an incredibly collaborative entrepreneurial community, and I’m grateful to continue being part of it.
